Certification Details ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (AHA ONLY. RQI is acceptable.) BLS - Basic Life Support (AHA ONLY. RQI is acceptable. Required for all candidates.) State License 1 Verification (Online Verification of License to include expiration date and any disciplinary actions) Job Details Pre-Screening Question: IMPORTANT- Please note, this unit requires nurses with Med Surg experience, no previous Behavior Health/Psych experience is required, however, nurses must be okay with this population to be submitted. This unit is a secured medical unit. In order to be admitted to this unit, patients have a primary medical diagnosis but typically have a history of mental illness as well. They will be expected to care for patients who are in alcohol withdrawal, have a history of IV drug use, dementia, aggressive behaviors, and anything that a med/surg unit would care for. Job Requirements IU Health University and Methodist are teaching facilities and require all travel nurses to agree to the possibility of precepting and/or being assigned students to shadow them while on assignment. Please only submit candidates that are okay with these requirements. Schedule Information MUST BE FLEXIBLE WITH WEEKEND REQUIREMENTS, WEEKEND REQUIREMENT WILL BE BASED ON UNIT NEEDS. TRAVELERS MUST BE ABLE TO WORK 50% OF THE WEEKENDS IN THEIR CONTRACT. Shift Requirements: 4x12 or 3x12 Call-Ins: If a traveler call-ins for a contracted shift, the traveler is expected to: 1) make up the day during the pay period, if a 0.9 FTE. OR 2) if a 0.9 FTE and unable to make up during the pay period, then the shift will be added at the end of the traveler contract 3) If a 1.2 FTE, any call-in shifts will be added to the end of the contract Charge coverage: Pending operational needs, unit charge nurse responsibilities may be needed with provided training and resources. Floating Requirements: Unit travelers may be expected to float to different levels of care (Med-Surg, PCU, ICU) with resources provided if needed at both University and Methodist Hospitals Additional Details Effective 11/30/24, IU Health will not allow IN RN’s to work at their facilities. The last day for IN RNs to start a NEW contract is 9/9 (allows them to finish a contract by 11/30). Periop/OR RN’s, Allied and Ambulatory RN travelers are exempt from this rule. These IN travelers are allowed to work past the 11/30 deadline. Periop includes ENDO, IR RN, PACU, Cath Lab RN, SDS
