Job Title: Infrastructure Engineer Location: Milwaukee and Mequon, WI Type: Full-Time, Permanent, or Contract to Hire (CTH is preferred) Experience: 5 Years Rate: $50 to $65 per hour on W2 (salary conversion from $90 to $120K plus bonuses) Important Note—You will be required to be onsite three days a week and two days remote. Our client would prefer you to have a background as a consultant or has prior experience working for an MSP. We will not consider candidates who need to relocate, candidates from Corp-to-Corp companies, or anyone who requires sponsorship now or in the future. Position Overview: We seek an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to design, implement, and maintain a high-performing IT infrastructure that seamlessly integrates on-premises systems with cloud environments. This role will involve building resilient, scalable, and secure infrastructure solutions that support our evolving business needs. You will leverage your deep knowledge of Windows Server, VMware, Office 365, Azure, networking, SAN, WAN, and LAN to create a solid foundation for productivity and growth. This position requires strategic project management skills to lead and coordinate critical infrastructure initiatives. Key Responsibilities: Infrastructure Design and Implementation: Architect and deploy robust infrastructure solutions that blend on-premises and cloud-based environments, emphasizing Windows Server, VMware, and Azure. Develop resilient systems prioritizing performance, scalability, and security across multiple platforms. Systems Administration and Optimization: Manage and optimize core infrastructure components, including Windows servers, Office 365, VMware environments, and SAN storage. Continuously enhance system reliability, automate repetitive tasks, and improve our processes to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency. Networking and Connectivity Management: Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot network environments (LAN, WAN, SAN) and ensure consistent connectivity across all locations. Work with network security tools and protocols to ensure data integrity and secure data flows across internal and external networks. Cloud and Virtualization Management: Drive cloud adoption and hybrid environment optimization, focusing on Azure and VMware. Leverage cloud-based solutions to enhance scalability, ensure adequate disaster recovery, and manage resources cost-effectively. Security and Compliance: Establish and uphold security protocols that protect infrastructure and data, working closely with the IT security team to enforce compliance with industry standards (SOC, ISO, NIST). Implement data protection measures, conduct regular security audits, and respond to incidents as needed. Project Leadership and Collaboration: Lead and contribute to key infrastructure projects, such as system upgrades, cloud migrations, and network expansions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements, coordinate timelines, and deliver high-quality solutions within established deadlines. Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for infrastructure configurations, processes, and troubleshooting guides. Provide Level 2/3 support for escalated incidents and contribute to a collaborative knowledge-sharing culture across the IT team. Qualifications: Experience and Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field; equivalent work experience considered. Minimum of 5 years of experience in infrastructure engineering, with solid expertise in Windows Server, VMware, and Azure. Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated skills in managing Office 365, VMware, SAN storage, and networking (LAN/WAN), with a solid grasp of network protocols and troubleshooting. Project Management: Proven track record of leading infrastructure projects with the ability to scope, plan, and execute within deadlines. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Problem-Solving Ability: Strong analytical skills with a proactive approach to identifying and solving technical challenges, continuously optimizing infrastructure for performance and reliability. Communication and Collaboration: Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across departments, translating technical details for non-technical stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications: Relevant certifications, such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, VMware Certified Professional, or CompTIA Network.
