This position is for our studio Slate, Colorado’s premier commercial furnishing contractor. Job Summary: Senior Designers work closely with the Design Manager, Sales, Sales Coordination, Installation Team to ensure projects are completed to the highest quality. Senior Designers are responsible for professional customer communication, strategic and accurate technical specifications, field verification, strategic typical development, and validations of finish selections. Essential Functions Collaborate with clients and project teams to understand design requirements and project objectives. Create innovative and aesthetically pleasing furniture/construction renderings that align with client needs and industry standards. Develop detailed drawings, renderings, and specifications using design software and tools. Select and source materials, finishes, and furniture components that meet project budgets and design concepts. Present design concepts to clients and stakeholders, incorporating feedback and revisions as necessary. Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers to obtain samples, pricing, and specifications for design materials and furnishings. Work closely with the project team, including architects, engineers, and contractors, to ensure design feasibility and compliance with building codes and regulations. Assist in preparing project documentation, including design presentations, material boards, and design documentation for construction and installation purposes. Required Skills/Abilities Ability to draw and specify using CET strongly preferred. Previous experience with contract furniture design strongly preferred. Proficiency in design software and tools, such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), and 3D modeling software. Strong creativity and design-thinking skills to develop innovative and functional design solutions. In-depth knowledge of furniture and interior design principles, materials, and industry trends. Ability to interpret and translate client needs and project requirements into compelling design concepts. Strong communication and presentation skills to effectively convey design concepts to clients and project teams. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Education/Experience Bachelor’s Degree in interior design or related field required or Associates Degree with applicable professional experience. 3 years of experience working in a contract furniture dealership. Steelcase experience preferred. NCIDQ Certification preferred.
