Director of Engagement and Stewardship Location: Bel Air Church, [Los Angeles, California, 90049 Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt Position Overview Bel Air Church is seeking an experienced Director of Stewardship to join our leadership team. This position is fundamentally about invoking the time, talent and treasure of our church members and our guests. Working closely with the Senior Pastor and reporting to the Director of Finance, the Director of Stewardship will proactively connect with people ( time ); motivate and communicate the impact of our volunteers and our outreach ( talent ); grow our fundraising results in three areas: general fund, capital campaign and special collections ( treasure ). The ideal candidate will be an initiator and a self-starter with excellent outgoing communication and social skills, keen attention to detail and strong computer literacy. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES TIME Cultivate active relationships with Bel Air Church members and guests to motivate them to serve, give and evangelize our church and our mission. Lead efforts with the communications and ministry teams to update donors quarterly on how their contributions are supporting Bel Air Church ministry and impacting people. Collaborate with the finance team to oversee budget management so that fund raising progress is clearly communicated to the church's governing board and congregation on a monthly basis. Join Bel Air's team to make Sundays, GAME DAY, for everyone. TALENT Promote the concepts of grateful giving, joyful generosity. Recruit a dedicated team of volunteers to support stewardship activities. Work with staff to create meaningful and emotional experiences of service to maximize our congregants’ hearts for others. Provide education and training programs to church staff, youth leaders and key volunteers to enhance their personal understanding of biblical stewardship as it relates to the impacts of ministry, community and service at Bel Air Church. Emphasize our outreach partnerships. Make introductions. Tell their stories. Bring them to life. Connect them to Bel Air congregants. TREASURE Drive and manage fundraising goals and targets: annual giving, long term capital campaign giving, planned estate giving, major gifts, grants, and special campaigns. Build and maintain personalized donor engagement plans, to increase volunteering and giving, especially with high donors. Formally engage with first time donors and lapsed donors. Oversee the maintenance of the donor database and selected relationship management records for data/gift/donor stewardship including accurate, detailed records of donor outreach and donor giving history as well as reporting analytics of all church giving on a quarterly basis. The position will interact regularly with others in offices, classrooms, meeting spaces, and outdoor areas of the church campus, as well as potentially at off-campus sites, including while traveling to and from those sites.
