Position Brand Description: The focus of the Metrology Technician is to install, calibrate, repair, and maintain instrumentation used in the manufacturing, testing, and storage of pharmaceuticals. The Metrology Technician is expected to understand the needs and requirements of the site, effectively communicate with the customers (operations, validation, engineering), and display good customer service while supporting daily manufacturing. Key Objectives/Deliverables: This role is expected to calibrate, install, troubleshoot, and adjust equipment used to control and measure variables such as pressure, temperature, dimensional, mass, and motion. Perform HEPA filter integrity testing of clean rooms and personnel, product, and or environmental protection devices. Must be willing to work with safety as a primary focus and abide by applicable safety procedures and practices. Maintain the effectiveness of the Quality System relevant to this position. Develop and maintain test procedures to verify instrument measurement performance. Enter data into CMMS databases, review calibration documentation, and create calibration certificates/work plans. Author and/or assist in nonconformance reports and deviations associated with instrument performance. Communicate instrumentation problems with equipment owners and site leadership. Coordinate with vendors for the shipping/receiving of calibration equipment. Maintain 5S principles in the Metrology laboratory and personal workspace. Must have the ability to diagnose the root cause of a problem and implement the proper corrective actions to minimize downtime quickly and accurately. Willing to assist in areas outside of their primary responsibility and learn other skills/aspects of the business. Projects and other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements: Adequate interpersonal and communications skills to be able to work effectively in a team-based environment. Ability to work in a safe manner to ensure the safety of self and others. Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment, working safely, and accountable for supporting all HSE Corporate and Site Goals. Ability to read and understand equipment drawings/electrical schematics. Regular (0% - 50%) exertion including standing/walking for extended periods. Lifting/carrying more than 15 and up to 50 pounds. At times low physical effort includes sitting, and operating computers or other small equipment. Additional Preferences: Must be able to speak, read, and write English at a sufficient level to communicate technical and business information effectively. Must be able to effectively use business software programs, such as Blue Mountain RAM, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office Suite, and other required software programs. Must be able to effectively work in a team environment. Physical considerations include the ability to work with or around equipment, climb ladders and stairs, and use PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). Good, all-around hands-on experience with repair of equipment. Use basic troubleshooting equipment such as multi-meters, calipers, etc. CMMS experience desired (Maximo/ Blue Mountain RAM) Education Requirements: Associate Degree in engineering/ engineering technology (or equivalent work experience). Minimum 2 years of experience working in a GMP/GDP facility: Pharmaceutical, medical device, nuclear, food, etc Other Information: The position supports a 24/7 operation and is expected to be flexible in maintaining availability for support in decision-making and issue resolution as necessary to operate the facility. Occasional travel may be required for training, conferences, capital projects, etc. The Metrology Technician will work in and around potentially hazardous equipment for this position.
