Location Full-time position based at Othram’s advanced facility in The Woodlands, Texas. Due to the nature of this role and the location of materials, this position requires the candidate to be onsite. Description As the first Digital Archivist at Othram, you will have the unique opportunity to shape and standardize our approach to digital archiving. Working with various analog and physical media—including text documents, audio cassette tapes, and VHS videos—you’ll convert these into structured, accessible digital assets. This role requires a proactive professional, skilled in digitization and archival practices, who can define and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices to establish a robust and efficient archival system. Responsibilities Develop and execute SOPs and best practices for digital archiving, setting the foundation for long-term efficiency and accuracy. Oversee and advise on the purchase and set-up of required hardware and software. Operate and maintain scanning hardware, audio/video digitization equipment, and related software to digitize various media formats. Implement metadata and file organization standards (e.g., MARC, Dublin Core) for archival quality and consistency. Establish and oversee consistent naming conventions and metadata practices across digital assets. Manage permissions, access settings, and secure organization to support efficient file retrieval and data protection. Conduct regular audits to refine archiving practices, ensuring alignment with established SOPs and identifying areas for improvement. Qualifications Demonstrated experience in digitization or digital archiving projects, ideally handling various media formats. Proficiency with scanning and digitization hardware, audio/video digitization equipment, and related software. Knowledge of metadata standards and archival practices, including MARC and Dublin Core. Strong skills in managing digital files, naming conventions, and metadata consistency. Detail-oriented, with excellent organizational and analytical skills. Ability to proactively establish and document SOPs and best practices in a new role. Willingness to work onsite at our facility in The Woodlands, Texas.
