Our client engages with academics and policymakers to better understand economic inequality in the United States and its impact on economic growth. Important elements of our client's mission include in-house, academic-quality research, and grantmaking to academic economists and other social scientists to support new research on inequality, mobility, growth, and related issues. Building a stronger bridge between academics and the policy community and elevating researchers and their work with the news media are both key to our work, with the goal of making new research relevant, accessible, and informative to the policymaking process. Summary: The Research Assistant will conduct research on the various channels through which economic inequality may (or may not) impact economic growth and stability, specifically helping with and conducting data analysis relating to economic mobility, the labor market, family economic security, and other policy priorities. This is a hybrid position located in the District of Columbia. Responsibilities: · Provide support for research projects in collaboration with internal and external economists on issues related to economic inequality, equitable growth, and public policy · Support efforts to translate academic research into issue briefs and other accessible content, and provide materials in support of policy outreach efforts · Draft articles, papers, blog posts, charts, tables, and graphs · Conduct literature reviews · Find, analyze, and synthesize relevant information and data · Proofread, fact-check, and edit documents to ensure accuracy and clarity · Prepare economic data sets for analysis · Maintain expertise in assigned areas of responsibility · Assist in the coordination and planning of meetings, events, and other outreach efforts · Perform other duties as assigned Requirements: · Bachelor's degree in economics, public policy, statistics, or related field required · Three years of research or analytical experience in economic policy or related fields preferred · Analytical and research skills essential. Experience with academic research assistance preferred · Proven ability to perform quantitative analysis and strong Excel skills required; familiarity with R, Stata, and/or other statistical and mathematical simulation programs is preferred · Strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to understand economic issues and to communicate them effectively · Thorough knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel · Ability to work well within a team in a fast-paced environment · Ability to multi-task and work well under tight deadlines · Commitment to our client's mission and goals · Non-profit or research team experience a plus
