Head of Kubernetes

Title: Head of Kubernetes Location: Dallas, TX on site daily no remote. Compensation: $200K - $240K Work Requirements: US Citizen, GC Holders or Authorized to Work in the US Job Description: The Head of Kubernetes will be responsible for leading and scaling the Company's Kubernetes offerings, with a focus on both on-premises and cloud-based solutions. This role requires deep expertise in Kubernetes orchestration, container technologies, and cloud-native ecosystems, as well as leadership experience to guide cross-functional teams and drive innovation in our offerings. The ideal candidate will possess a broad range of skills in Kubernetes management across multiple platforms, including AKS, EKS, Red Hat OpenShift, Tanzu, and Nutanix. Key Responsibilities: Lead the strategy and execution for Kubernetes and containerized infrastructure solutions across hybrid and multi-cloud environments. Oversee the design, implementation, and optimization of Kubernetes clusters and related technologies, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security. Drive continuous improvement and innovation across Kubernetes environments, ensuring alignment with industry best practices. Collaborate with product, engineering, and DevOps teams to define and deliver cloud-native solutions using Kubernetes on-prem and across cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP). Manage and optimize Kubernetes deployments across major cloud platforms, including Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and Amazon EKS , as well as private cloud technologies like Red Hat OpenShift , VMware Tanzu , and Nutanix . Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to a growing team of Kubernetes engineers and platform administrators. Establish and enforce governance, standards, and operational best practices for Kubernetes platform management. Evaluate and integrate new tools, platforms, and technologies related to Kubernetes and container orchestration to enhance Alcority's offerings. Work closely with customers and stakeholders to ensure the successful deployment and ongoing management of Kubernetes solutions, providing troubleshooting and technical support as needed. Define key metrics and KPIs to measure the performance and impact of Kubernetes operations, ensuring continuous improvement. Drive cost optimization and resource management for Kubernetes clusters in cloud environments to improve efficiency and reduce overhead. Skillset / Experience: Extensive experience with Kubernetes in both on-prem and cloud environments, with a focus on scalability, automation, and performance. Proven hands-on experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and Amazon EKS , managing large-scale production clusters. In-depth knowledge of Red Hat OpenShift , VMware Tanzu , and Nutanix platforms, with a focus on container orchestration and lifecycle management. Strong understanding of containerization technologies, including Docker, Helm, and container runtimes. Deep familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and integration of Kubernetes clusters with cloud-native services. Strong expertise in CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code (IaC), automation tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes Operators), and configuration management. Excellent leadership and team management skills, with experience leading cross-functional engineering teams. Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Experience with security best practices in Kubernetes, including network policies, RBAC, and vulnerability scanning. Ability to balance technical depth with business acumen to drive strategic decisions that impact the organization. Preferred Qualifications: Certifications in Kubernetes (CKA, CKAD) or related cloud certifications (e.g., Azure, AWS). Experience with multi-cluster management solutions and service meshes (e.g., Istio, Linkerd). Familiarity with observability tools for Kubernetes (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
