We started as Montessori of Winter Garden Charter in 2011 in a strip mall in Winter Garden, Florida. Since then, we have grown into a two-campus charter school serving students from the age of 3 through 12th grade. We strive to provide quality instruction which holds a strong commitment to the founding principles and philosophies of the Montessori method and inspires academic excellence in an environment rich with warmth, kindness, and respect, nurturing curiosity, creativity, and independence. Our Goal is to provide a strong Montessori foundation that enables our students to achieve their full potential, develop curiosity, creativity, imagination, and become responsible citizens of the world. We are in need of an Upper Elementary teacher to begin immediately. Position: Montessori Classroom Teacher - Upper Elementary (Grades 4-6) Reports To: Principal and/or Designee Position Type: Salary / Exempt Hours: 7:50 am – 3:50 pm Salary Schedule: 10-months, Performance Based Schedule Job Purpose: To create a supportive Montessori educational environment conducive to positive, whole child focused, student learning while actively contributing to the development and implementation of the school’s programs and goals. Qualifications: · Bachelor’s degree and certification or eligibility for certification by the Florida State Department of Education to teach in the State of Florida. · Montessori certification or willingness to complete certification as requested by the administration. Previous experience teaching in a Montessori classroom preferred. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Instruction, Montessori Curriculum, Materials, and Classroom Management: · Adherence to the ‘Principles of Professional Conduct for the Education Profession in Florida’ (6A-10.0810). · Maintain accurate ESE paperwork and supporting documents to reflect the appropriate service delivery models and compliance with service for all ESE students identified on the 504, IEP or EP. · Differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities within the classroom. · Design and implement consistent, individual, and group lessons within the integrated Montessori and inquiry-based model (Secondary Only), supporting each child’s direction and success. · Establish clear expectations for behavior and academic performance and foster a respectful and collaborative classroom environment where students feel safe, valued, and empowered to take ownership of their learning. · Seamlessly integrate Florida State standards into Montessori scope and sequence to provide high-quality state standard instruction. · Conduct regular meetings with students to assess their own success and facilitate individualized progress. · Prepare the Montessori classroom environment to meet students’ needs and interests. · Participate in field trips and overnights as necessary. · Attend meetings relevant to teaching at the school or as requested by the administration. · Continuously engage in professional development, including conferences, training programs, and courses to deepen understanding of Montessori philosophy, instructional strategies, and best practices in education. · Firm commitment to upholding the school’s vision, mission, and core values. · Perform other related duties as required. Parent Education, Meetings, and Conferences: · Participate and assist in developing school functions, including open houses, orientation meetings, parent education, and school-wide activities. · Prepare documents and reports necessary for parent-teacher conferences or other meetings requested by parents or school administration. · Establish open lines of communication with parents/guardians through regular meetings, newsletters, and conferences to discuss student progress, classroom activities, and school events. Record-Keeping and Data Assessment: · Maintain student records, reports, evaluations, inventories, and tests. · Complete all progress monitoring and benchmark assessments on time as scheduled by administration. · Participate in all assessment-related training. · Prepare student progress reports and assessment reports as required by administration. · Coordinate with before- and after-school staff (where applicable) to ensure safe transitions for students. Physical Requirements/Activity: · Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently. · The position requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, lift (up to 20 pounds), finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing acuity, and visual acuity. · Indoor and Outdoor: Classroom Teacher is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside. Compensation and Benefits: Competitive performance-based compensation and benefits package in alignment with Florida statute. Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated with provisions of the board’s policy on evaluation.
