Responsibilities: Engineering Duties: Manufacturing Process Design : Develop and enhance manufacturing processes by studying product and operational needs in a precision machine shop setting. CNC Programming : Provide expertise in programming CNC machines, troubleshooting, and offering technical assistance. Shop Documentation : Build routers, BOMs (Bill of Materials), and optimize programming to improve shop efficiency and production output. Data Collection & Reporting : Lead data-driven initiatives by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing production data to support decision-making and continuous improvement. ERP System Expertise : Become proficient in the company’s ERP system to manage production schedules, work orders, and material requirements. Support Quoting Process : Assist in the quoting and bidding process by providing technical input and collaborating with cross-functional teams to win new work. Equipment Oversight : Manage the selection, maintenance, and operation of machine shop equipment, and track machine maintenance needs. Cost Reduction & Lean Manufacturing : Implement lean manufacturing techniques and process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce operational costs. Procurement Duties: RFQ Management : Prepare and issue Request for Quotations (RFQs) for steel, aluminum, and other critical materials. Review and negotiate supplier bids, ensuring quality, cost, and delivery terms are met. Material Sourcing : Source and procure raw materials, ensuring optimal quality and cost-effectiveness, while managing vendor relationships. Vendor Management : Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiate pricing and contracts, and monitor performance for on-time deliveries. Inventory Management : Monitor inventory levels to ensure materials and supplies are available without overstocking, aligning with production schedules. Outside Services Coordination : Manage relationships with external service providers (e.g., heat treating, coatings, etc.) to ensure timely completion of outsourced processes. Cost Analysis : Conduct market research and cost analysis to ensure competitive pricing and the availability of necessary materials. Negotiating Terms : Negotiate payment terms, delivery schedules, and other contractual conditions to ensure favorable outcomes. Documentation : Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, contracts, and supplier performance for effective management. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. 3 years of experience in a machine shop setting with a strong understanding of CNC programming and operations. Proficient in CAD/CAM software and ERP systems for production and procurement management. Strong organizational and leadership skills , with the ability to manage multiple projects and work under pressure. Excellent communication skills , both written and verbal.
