CAS’s mission is to support the company in achieving its objectives by employing a systematic, focused approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes. Position Description The Associate Director of Assurance Data Analytics and Automation Strategy will collaborate with management and staff, and partners across various business functions to advance and enhance data analytics capabilities across the enterprise. This individual will lead the implementation of CAS’s data analytics strategy, with a main focus on predictive analytics, real-time risk monitoring, artificial intelligence, and process automation. This leader will foster collaborative relationships with audit colleagues and business partners to enhance the impact of analytics in strengthening the company’s risk and control environment. To maintain a comprehensive perspective on data analytics opportunities, the Associate Director may occasionally work with 2-8 person audit teams on domestic and global audits to ensure alignment with corporate policies and internal control practices. Primary Position Responsibilities Technical Leadership Actively define and implement the CAS Data Analytics Strategy, emphasizing predictive analytics, real-time risk monitoring, artificial intelligence, and process automation. Provide technical leadership in data warehouse architecture, data engineering, Extract/Transform/Load (ETL) processes/solutions, and advanced analytics capabilities (e.g., machine learning). Develop project plans, ensure adherence to project schedules, and work with leadership and collaborators to set priorities and outline long-term analytics recommendations. Mentor a team of data analytics professionals and support organizational upskilling efforts in data analytics, artificial intelligence, and automation. Collaborate with CAS, Ethics and Compliance, TechLilly (IT), and other teams to build and maintain cross-functional analytics data infrastructure, including data management and modeling across both integrated and disparate data sources. Actively monitor internal and industry resources to proactively identify and implement opportunities that enhance organizational capabilities. Solution Delivery Develop data analytics tools, including visualization tools, to analyze data across the company and identify risks, trends, and insights relevant to audit areas. Design and implement AI and automation solutions using a combination of enterprise and custom technologies. Use data from various sources, such as SAP, Workday, SuccessFactors, ServiceNow, SHARP, Veeva, and TeamMate. Promote process standardization and automation to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of CAS and partner assurance functions. Operational Excellence Support the CAS Data Analytics team in fulfilling data analytics requests, generating datasets for audits, and maintaining current analytics capabilities. Provide organizational reporting for business partners, leaders, and other stakeholders. Partner effectively with Lilly personnel to identify control risks related to current regulations, policies, and procedures. Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of data analytics, artificial intelligence, and automation tools and capabilities. Process Ownership Build strong relationships with data owners, assurance function partners, and other business leaders to identify unmet data analytics and/or process improvement needs within CAS and the broader organization. Lead upskilling initiatives for CAS and partner assurance functions in data analytics. Know the latest industry trends and emerging practices in Risk Analytics, applying them to enhance Lilly’s processes. Basic Qualifications/Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Business Analytics, Statistics, Data Science, or related field 5 years of relevant professional experience in business analytics within a global, matrixed organization Qualified applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Additional Skills/Preferences 3 years of project management experience Proficiency in data warehouse architecture, data engineering, ETL processes/solutions, and advanced analytics (e.g., machine learning) Proficiency with data visualization tools (Power BI preferred; Tableau, Qlik also acceptable) Experience with reporting/query, data management, and statistical tools (e.g., R, Python, SAS, SQL) Experience integrating various data sources Strategic problem solver with a demonstrable record of implementing transformational analytics programs within internal audit, compliance, or risk management organizations Experience leading cross-functional projects and influencing without authority within a global, matrixed organization Strong collaboration skills across diverse partners, technical and non-technical, to derive insights, identify and frame challenges, develop solutions, and drive actions aligned with business priorities Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to deliver data-driven insights and compelling narratives to influence senior leaders and other collaborators Skilled at coaching and assessing both technical and transferable skills Self-directed, adaptable, and comfortable working in ambiguous environments Demonstrates high motivation, rapid learning agility, and a growth mindset Background in quantitative modeling or statistics Other Information Up to 5-10% travel based on business needs.
