Position Type: Maintenance/Custodial Date Posted: 7/8/2024 Location: Maintenance Date Available: ASAP Closing Date: Until Filled FLAGSTAFF UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 1 Plumber - Skilled Maintenance Worker Position Title : Plumber - Skilled Maintenance Worker Department/Section : Maintenance Services Supervisor : Manager, Maintenance Services Hourly Rate: $21.85 - $22.70/hour (depending on experience) Pay Grade: 91 Schedule: 40 hours/week; Monday- Friday (schedule TBD), 12 month position; Benefits offered; Arizona State Retirement System eligible Summary of Function Under the direction of the Manager, Maintenance Services, provides skilled plumbing services with specific responsibility for installing, repairing and maintaining pipes, fixtures and other plumbing used for water distribution and wastewater disposal in school and department buildings. Maintains the flow and drainage of water, air, and other gases by assembling, sintalling, and repairing pipes, fittings, and plumbing fixtures district-wide. Maintain and provide the safe condition and operation of all plumbing systems in the District. Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent certification required. Valid Arizona Department of Public Safety IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card required within 30 days of hire. Valid Arizona Driver's license with 24 months of clean driving record. Commercial plumbing experience required. Apprenticeship or Journeyman License preferred Duties and responsibilities Assemble, install, maintain, and pressure test all pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, drainage, sprinkler, and gas systems according to specifications and plumbing codes. Determine sources of plumbing malfunctions and complete repairs as indicated or according to work orders. Install and repair pipes, fittings, valves, fixtures, and plumbing system equipment, including sinks, commodes, water heaters, water softeners, etc.; install supports and hangers for pipe, fixtures and equipment. Read blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the layout of plumbing systems, water supply networks and waste and drainage systems. Plan, install and service plumbing systems, fixtures, piping equipment and controls; test pipe systems and fixtures for leaks. Repair dishwashers and kitchen equipment that incorporate gas or water consumption. Work with building administration to complete projects and complete needed work orders. Maintains clean and orderly conditions in all working areas for the purpose of observing all safety practices and regulations. Maintains records (e.g. equipment repair history, work orders, test reports, etc.) for the purpose of documenting the required information. Maintains vehicle, tools and equipment for the purpose of ensuring availability in safe operating conditions. Performs emergency, predictive and preventive maintenance to ensure the ongoing functions of plumbing systems. Assists with snow removal. Performs other duties as assigned. Must be able to handle stressful situations calmly and with consideration of other persons. Physical requirements Work involves the performance of duties where physical exertion and movement is required to perform aspects of the job. Requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, push, or pull heavy objects and materials. Assistance is available as required to perform physically demanding tasks. Work involves standing and moving for extended periods of time, requires moving from one location to another, reaching, bending, stooping, crawling, turning, holding and grasping objects. Verbal communication ability required. Equipment, Aids, Tools and Materials Uses office equipment which includes but is not limited to: computers, video projectors, white boards, and office or instructional equipment. Uses vehicle transportation which includes but is not limited to: buses, vans, trucks and other motor vehicles. Uses tools commonly found in a maintenance department.
