The CDO will be responsible for setting and executing fundraising strategies across various giving channels, including individual major giving, corporate, foundations, events, and government funding. This role demands a strategic and visionary leader with a proven track record in major gift development and experience in leading fundraising for national nonprofit organizations. The successful candidate will be a member of the executive leadership team, driving the organization's mission and strategic growth, and will play a vital role in maintaining and strengthening relationships with existing supporters while expanding into new giving channels. The ideal CDO will have at least 15 years' of experience in nonprofit development, with a minimum of 10 years' at a senior level, and a background in growing national nonprofits. They must be adept at managing a development team, cultivating high-level gifts, and doubling major gift revenue over the next 3-5 years. The CDO will also be expected to work closely with the marketing department to enhance the organization's grassroots base and to ensure that fundraising strategies align with the organization's goals. A deep understanding of and passion for gun violence prevention and related social justice movements is essential, as is a commitment to fostering REDI (Race, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion). The role requires a results-driven individual with strong analytical skills, exceptional communication, and the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
