Department: Baseball Operations, Research and Development Supervisor: Sr. Director, Research and Development Classification: Full-Time/Exempt Location: Houston, TX The Houston Astros baseball organization is seeking a talented and motivated Full-Stack Application Developer to join our Software Development team within the Research and Development department. This role will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining internal applications that support decision making and important job functions across Baseball Operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both front-end and back-end development and will work closely with the Software Development team, the wider R&D department, and stakeholders to deliver impactful tools that provide a competitive advantage in the baseball landscape. Essential Functions & Responsibilities Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Design, develop, and maintain scalable web applications using modern web technologies. Contribute to the improvement and modernization of key legacy applications. Collaborate with the technical product manager, research analysts, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications. Implement responsive and user-friendly front-end interfaces using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks such as React. Develop robust back-end services and APIs using primarily SQL, C#, and Python. Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications through rigorous testing and debugging. Integrate third-party APIs and services to enhance application functionality. Maintain code quality through code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration practices. Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously improve development processes. Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to address any urgent issues with our software systems. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Proven experience as a Full-Stack Web Application Developer or similar role. Strong proficiency in front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.js. Experience with back-end development using languages such as js, Python, and C#. Familiarity with database technologies, especially SQL. Knowledge of version control systems, particularly Git. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Experience with Agile development methodologies and DevOps practices. Work Environment This job operates in an office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones and photocopiers. The noise level is usually moderate but can be loud within the stadium environment. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit (for long periods of time); use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee may occasionally lift or move equipment, up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and focused vision. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work Ability to work a flexible schedule, including; extended hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Travel Some travel may be expected in this role.
