The charter of the Amazon Shopping Team is to improve shopping on Amazon using the conversational capabilities of large language models. We are working on an AI-first initiative to further improve the way we do search using large-scale foundation models. Our goal is to build large language models (LLMs), which can empower conversational applications and facilitate online shopping. The team is searching for pioneers who are passionate about technology, innovation, and customer experience, and are ready to make a lasting impact on the industry.

Key Job Responsibilities

As a Distinguished Scientist, you will act as a Generative AI expert across Amazon. You will:

1. Be a strategic advisor to various S-teams and provide practical, clinical advice to business owners.
2. Communicate recommendations to leadership, customers, and external stakeholders.
3. Identify business problems that may impact customers in the future.
4. Propose and deliver solutions based on decades of published scientific research and business judgment.
5. Influence research in adjacent disciplines and beyond.
6. Drive major new science-heavy product launches with org-wide scope and impact.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

* PhD degree in computer science, engineering, or mathematics
* 20+ years of experience in the field
* A track record of world-class publication in related disciplines
* Demonstrated expertise in both theory and practice of disciplines

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Exceptional customer relationship skills, including the ability to discover true requirements underlying feature requests.
* Ability to present complex technical information clearly to various audiences.
* Track record of developing intellectual property.
* Demonstrated history of influencing standards bodies.
* Participation on academic program committees and open-source programs.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets. The base pay for this position starts at $350,000/yr.
