Description

The mission of the Shopping Foundations ATLAS team is to build tools and capabilities used across Shopping teams to annotate data for LLM and Shopping ML models. We enable model builders to source the data they need to build, evaluate and improve their models.

Key job responsibilities

We are looking for a Software Development Manager to lead a team of skilled developers to deliver our vision of human in the loop tooling for generative AI. You will utilize your experience managing a team of software developers to deliver projects on schedule with the highest quality. You must be detail oriented and hands-on with a desire to stay close to the technology. At the same time you must have a strong business acumen, judgment and be deeply customer-centric. You will mentor and motivate your team to deliver results and guide them to deliver through ambiguity and shifting priorities. You will instill best practices for software development, testing, and documentation and implement process improvements for both your own and other teams. You will partner with product management and cross functional teams to build and ship technical solutions across a broad range of products.

A day in the life

You will work closely with your peers (Managers, Sr Engineers, TPM) but independently own specific customer-facing features and underlying systems. You own short and long-term planning for your space and team, aligning work with growth opportunities for your engineers. You will drive demos across the org and evangelize adoption of your team's capabilities.

Basic Qualifications

- 3+ years of engineering team management experience

- 7+ years of engineering experience

- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

- Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
