Data Engineer, Amazon Community Impact Job at Amazon in Seattle
Amazon, Seattle, WA, United States
Description
Do you love solving problems whose solutions make the world a better place? As the Amazon Community Impact team, we lead philanthropic initiatives for leveraging Amazon's assets for good, concentrating on the pillars of Education, Housing Equity, Disaster Relief, Food Security, and support for employees and teams volunteering in our communities. https://www.aboutamazon.com/impact/community
As a Data Engineer you will work in a small, highly collaborative, results-oriented tech team (BIEs, DEs, SDEs), and will be partnering with Product and Program Managers, in a environment that leverages agile planning techniques. The successful candidate will write high-quality code, and work with various stakeholders to design, implement, and support a scalable data infrastructure for business intelligence and analysis, balancing and aligning their requirements with the team long term data vision. We are looking for an engineer who is comfortable working through ambiguity and is a creative problem solver. And, of course, has a passion for the community.
Key job responsibilities
As a Data Engineer, you will design, develop and enhance scalable data systems and pipelines supporting Amazon's ability to scale our work with community partners, and to measure the activity and impact globally. You will build conceptual data models to harmonize disparate data sets, and technical solutions that scale across use cases. You will become a subject matter expert for community, impact and charitable giving data pipelines across dozens of internal and external data streams, while striving for efficiency by aligning data systems and data management approaches with organizational needs.
You will collaborate with other data engineers, software developers, business intelligence engineers as well as program and product partners to deliver end to end solutions that meet business goals. You will work with your internal customers to balance customer requirements with team requirements and develop data solutions to help your team and business evolve.
A day in the life
You'll be part of a bigger tech team (SDEs, DEs, and BIEs) joining all their ceremonies, starting with the sprint planning, dailies, demos and retrospectives.
The ACI team has created and launched the following projects as part of their day to day, with our tech owners playing a key role. We look forward to hearing your ideas for what could be next:
