Strategic Planning and Engineering is searching for an innovative and solutions-oriented engineering leader to lead the initiative of developing and delivering next generation, world-class delivery stations. This position will have an impact on both design and process design engineering for AMZL. This is a unique opportunity at a critical juncture in Amazons growth to drive end to end product delivery from inception to execution. We are looking for a hands-on leader with experience managing new product and process development for high dollar value programs. In this role, you will collaborate with internal and external teams to design high-quality, cost-effective solutions for our last mile delivery systems.

To be successful in this role you will need to be able to influence and work with senior leaders across multiple organizations and geographies. You will work with organizations such as Worldwide (WW) Engineering and Design, WW Tech SME, Last Mile Delivery and Tech as well as Operations to innovate at scale and drive the development roadmap. You will manage large, complex initiatives, and advocate on behalf of the customer to develop the next generation of AMZL delivery station.

You will work with a team of highly skilled and highly engaged engineers in a fast-paced and often ambiguous environment. Our team works on the strategic programs for AMZL including Multiple Modes of Transportation (MMOT), Sub Same Day (SSD) Speed, Exchange Points (XPT), Asset Lite, Amazon Shipping and Package Free Shipping (PFS). You will be challenged; you will learn; you will work on high impact, high visibility projects; you will grow.

Key job responsibilities

Lead and coordinate design and innovation efforts to develop optimal solutions for the last mile delivery station through equipment specification, material flow, process design, site layout, and intellectual property considerations.

Work closely with a partner team in Engineering, Tech and Operations to build impactful products

Collaboration with internal teams and external vendors to generate high-quality, cost-effective solutions in very short periods of time.

Simultaneously manage multiple projects and tasks while effectively influencing, negotiating, and communicating with internal and external business partners, contractors and vendors.

Provide technical leadership for large-scale engineering projects

Effective written and verbal communication skills, ability to execute the vision, detailed roadmap, and specific technical solutions to make a compelling business case with senior executives.

Hold partner teams accountable for delivery of project roadmap. Own a part of the vision of the next generation DS roadmap, including execution. Meet defined milestones and delivery dates.

Drive a culture of innovation across the AMZL Strategic Planning and Process Engineering Org.

20% travel based on business needs.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Science, Engineering, Technology and Mathematics (or equivalent related experience)

7+ years of progressively responsible experience in the specialty

Experience with automated material handling equipment, and systems inclusive of robotics and high-speed manufacturing

Experience with process design based on Lean Principles

Experience in Capital project management - Experience must involve ownership/management of engineering design project

Experience using business/technical software like MS Excel, MS Project, and CAD software

Preferred Qualifications

Masters degree in Science, Engineering, Technology and Mathematics (or equivalent related experience)

7+ years Operations experience

Experience in Logistics or Production business

Experience in a role with multiple locations/regions/countries

Experience in innovation/R&D team

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $118,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $205,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
