Position Overview:
Little Paper Kids is searching for a creative, organized, and trend-savvy Head of Design to lead our product development efforts. This director-level role, reporting directly to the CEO, will oversee the end-to-end product design process, ensuring that each new product aligns with our brand’s high standards for quality and innovation. The ideal candidate will be a strategic leader and critical thinker with an entrepreneurial mindset, able to blend artistic vision with data-driven insights to create products that set trends in the market—all while working within strict deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Design Leadership:
Lead and manage the design process for all new products, from concept to sample approval, ensuring alignment with brand vision and standards.
CAD Design and Approval:
Create and refine product designs using CAD software, obtaining final approval from the CEO for all new designs.
Manufacturer Collaboration:
Work closely with manufacturers to source samples and oversee production, ensuring high quality and consistency in the final goods delivered.
Trendsetting and Market Awareness:
Stay up to date on industry trends and competitors, identifying opportunities for Little Paper Kids to set and lead trends within the market.
Data-Driven Design Process:
Use data analysis of existing sales and customer feedback to inform and drive the product design process, optimizing for customer satisfaction and market relevance.
Creative and Organizational Excellence:
Balance high levels of creativity with structured processes, ensuring that all projects meet quality standards and deadlines.
End-to-End Product Development:
Oversee the entire product development lifecycle, coordinating with cross-functional teams and external partners to ensure each product meets our quality and brand expectations.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as Industrial Design, Product Design, or similar.
7+ years of experience in product design and development, ideally within the retail or consumer goods industry.
Proven experience in CAD design and working closely with manufacturers to bring designs from concept to production.
Strong awareness of market trends and a proactive approach to trendsetting.
Analytical skills with experience using sales data and customer feedback to drive product development.
Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
Creativity, vision, and a passion for delivering high-quality, innovative products.
Ability to travel occasionally, including internationally, as needed for product development and quality assurance.
