The Brand Motion Designer will be responsible for bringing our brand to life through motion across Meta’s AI product offerings and portfolio of brands. We believe that motion is crucial for simplifying complex ideas through the power of storytelling. It is equally essential for building brands that feel resonant, expressive, and innovative.
This highly collaborative role involves working on building and activating motion design systems in partnership with brand, product, and marketing teams. Responsibilities include integrating branded motion experiences in product, animating bespoke moments for AI marketing product launches, and developing motion guidance to inform brand foundations for AI products and experiences at Meta.
The ideal candidate is a conceptual thinker, storyteller, and detail-oriented animator who can bring ideas to life in new and inspiring ways. They understand interactivity and think from the user perspective to solve problems and invent new experiences. They are technically-savvy, love tinkering with the tools and challenging the technology to use it effectively. Strong skills in craft, art direction and design thinking are required, as well as the ability to seamlessly work across various mediums and project types. They are a strong communicator, comfortable working independently but also thrive partnering with teams.
Motion Designer Responsibilities
Development of Meta’s brand system and design language through motion design animation and prototyping.
Produce strong conceptual and expressive animations that are engaging and reflect a cohesive brand experience and are rooted in strong conceptual motion principles.
Sketch, storyboard, ideate, and generate new concepts quickly based on stakeholder direction and self-driven research.
Work closely with a diverse team including creative directors, art directors, designers, product designers, engineers, program managers, and content strategists. Take direction and provide feedback to effectively develop and deliver final animated content, ensuring full realization work.
Generate ideas, inspire your teammates, give and receive feedback, and critique respectfully.
Meet multiple deadlines, prioritize work, and keep projects moving forward.
Develop new interactive concepts.
Partner with technical artists and engineering to influence the development of new animation formats, tools and pipelines.
Minimum Qualifications
7+ years experience with product, branding or communication design.
Portfolio exhibits conceptual experience, a proven understanding of design best practices, interactive experience, technical skills and craftsmanship.
Experience with storytelling including editorial animation and/or illustration.
Exhibited understanding and command of the principles of animation and easing.
Demonstrated experience in 2D and 3D animation skills.
Experience with Cinema4D, Adobe Creative Suite (including After effects), Figma.
Knowledge of Lottie, JSON, prototyping skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Understanding of Artificial Intelligence.
Knowledge of iOS, Android and WWW design.
Knowledge of Origami.
Experience in pursuing emerging technologies.
Future-first mindset, and experience creating in new platforms. This may include, but is not limited to: augmented, virtual or mixed reality, gaming, Web3, AI, NFTs, avatars, etc.
