The Communications + Brand External Communications professional for DPR’s Northeast tells the company’s story to build a consistent and positive brand image that supports our mission to become a most admired company by 2030. This individual develops and leads execution of communications plans that position and tell DPR’s story in local markets to media, partners, customers, and employees in the Northeast.
This person embeds with the region and its business units. Together with other regional communications resources, this individual works to build DPR’s brand and share of voice locally while also understanding how that work contributes to DPR’s global position. Additionally, this person collaborates with and is an active member of DPR’s global External Communications subteam.
In this role, they:
Develop and implement external communications campaigns that support company-wide and regional goals, positioning DPR as the region’s preferred self-perform contractor/employer and connecting core audiences to our purpose.
Collaborate with other communications team professionals to share successes, repurpose existing resources, and align campaigns for maximum engagement and efficiency.
Be hands-on with, and guide, a broad range of responsibilities including:
Media & Influencer Relations Cultivate and leverage relationships with local, regional, and trade publications.
Pitch and place stories that support DPR’s business strategy in the region.
Liaise with regional thought leaders, project teams, and marketing and BD colleagues to mine stories and provide guidance.
Establish a deep understanding of the competitive landscape, including competitive messaging and share-of-voice.
Support local efforts to secure speaking opportunities in front of key audiences relating to DPR strategic focus areas. Also lead media-fronted awards programs and contribute to companywide efforts for both speaking and awards.
Content Creation Work independently and in concert with DPR brand journalists to create compelling content that conveys DPR’s technical excellence and innovation.
Regularly demonstrate extensive skills in writing for audience and voice.
Regularly visit project jobsites to meet with teams and surface and develop content for earned, shared, and owned channels.
Collaborate across the Comms + Brand team to extend the reach and impact of local/regional content through new channels and media; work with the global team to scale local content and contribute to the team’s editorial calendar.
Business Acumen & Industry Engagement Develop a deep understanding of DPR’s culture, business, and the industry and help build and sustain the company’s authentic message and reputation that increases brand value and produces truly great results.
Help DPR advance standards and change perceptions about what a construction company can be by playing a meaningful role in company-wide initiatives like National Safety Week, Women in Construction Week, and Construction Inclusion Week.
Support DPR’s Community and Global Social Responsibility initiatives at the regional level by positioning local activities through a lens of DPR’s GSR pillars.
Measurement & Reporting Track, report, and share communications activities and outcomes regularly.
Use data and analytics to drive continuous improvement in communications investments.
Coordinate with other communicators supporting your region to provide an integrated, quarterly update.
Qualifications:
7+ years of experience in business-to-business communications. AEC industry experience is a plus.
Ability to manage multiple internal stakeholders, tasks, produce quality work, and consistently meet deadlines.
Demonstrated media relations experience and solid bank of local media relationships.
Experience developing and/or executing editorial calendars and visibility campaigns.
Strong organizational, meeting facilitation, and communication skills (written, oral, and visual).
Effective interpersonal and leadership skills.
Strong writer with meticulous editing capabilities and the ability to produce content for a variety of audiences.
Proactive mindset to managing numerous assignments and deadlines.
Creative thinking and ability to write/edit clear, engaging, and grammatically correct content.
Proficiency with Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) a plus.
Availability to travel.
