Job Title: Virtual Sign Language Interpreter- Sunbelt Staffing

Position Overview:The Virtual Sign Language Interpreter will facilitate communication between students, teachers, and parents during live classes, video conferences, and other remote learning sessions. Responsibilities include interpreting spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa, collaborating with teachers to ensure accessibility of instructional materials, and fostering an inclusive learning environment for students with hearing impairments.

Requirements:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with sign systems used in educational settings.
• Certification as a sign language interpreter (e.g., RID certification) or equivalent qualification.
• Experience working as a sign language interpreter in educational settings, preferably in a virtual or remote environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students and navigate the challenges of remote learning.
• Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education.
• EIPA Score of atleast 3.5

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in K-12 or educational settings.
• Knowledge of educational technology platforms and tools for virtual learning.
• Understanding of best practices for accommodating students with hearing impairments in remote learning environments.
