ECU Health Roanoke-Chowan Hospital is a 114-bed community hospital located in Ahoskie. Serving four nearby counties, the 15-bed emergency department sees approximately 18,000 patients per year. ECU Health Roanoke-Chowan Hospital provides a wide range of health services, including medical, surgical and radiation oncology. In addition, the Wound Healing and Pain Management clinics serve as referral centers for neighboring ECU Health hospitals and providers.
Position Summary
The Senior Director, Financial Operations is the senior financial representative of the hospital. The role is the voice of finance on the local hospital Senior Leadership team. The role has a matrixed reporting structure with direct reporting to the Vice President, Community Hospital Financial Operations and dotted line to the President of the hospital.
The role oversees and directly manages hospital financial team functions including, but not limited to:
Hospital Controller along with financial accounting and cash management,
Patient Access Services (Point of Care Admissions, Emergency Department, Outpatient Clinics),
Financial Clearance (Referral Management, Pre-Registration, Prior Authorization, Scheduling),
Materials Management (Supply Chain) with matrixed reporting to central office.
May also assist with other departmental oversight as required by local hospital requirements.
Key Duties:
Member of system management teams and functions as a key liaison between the local leadership teams, physician partners, central office and applicable governing board of the health care entities and programs.
Translates system-wide financial strategies into actionable hospital initiatives that enable achievement of results that align with established goals to create and sustain operational excellence for health care entities and programs.
Leads the integration and provides ultimate oversight for multiyear strategies to advance the mission.
Works in partnership with management and physician leaders in ensuring that plans, operations and patient care are aligned with the Mission, Vision and Values.
Ensures broader organizational support around identified goals, strategies, budgets, and metrics associated with financial operations.
Ensures that policies, procedures and practices are operationalized to support safe, reliable care and fosters a continuous learning culture.
Builds the organizational structure, talent, and other capabilities to implement and operate the local financial operations.
Responsible for establishing, measuring, and achieving performance metrics, consistent with ECU Health expectations.
Employs methods of change management to advance the organization by using tools, business processes, budget allocations and operational practices to significantly reshape ECU Health.
Accountable for a positive organizational culture in conducting business, decision making and performance management to influence work attitudes and enhance job satisfaction.
Select, engage and develop leaders, inclusive of performance management, professional development, formation, and succession planning.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Accounting, Healthcare Management or similar is required. Master's Degree in Healthcare or Business Management or similar is highly preferred. Experience: 8 -10 years' experience in financial operations of a hospital is required. Previous oversight of patient access, finance, accounting and financial clearance preferred. Revenue cycle experience and knowledge considered desirable in an applicant as well.
