Position Title : Director, Procurement

Facilities Finance & Administrative Services (FFAS) Location : Princeton, NJ (4 days a week on site) Position Summary The Director, Procurement reports to the Executive Director, Facilities Capital Finance and Procurement (FCFP). The Director leads a team of 6 and has 2 direct reports (Contract Managers). The Director promotes professionalism in source-to-pay procurement activities, minimizing risks to Facilities and the University while ensuring compliance with policies and procedures. The FCFP team partners with key Facilities and University stakeholders to align business strategy, market dynamics, and supplier capabilities in the execution of procurement strategies. The Director also provides leadership in sourcing, procurement, contract management, procurement technology systems administration, supplier analytics, and reporting. The Director is responsible for driving continuous improvement and transformation efforts across shared procurement processes, refining design and construction contract terms, expanding eProcurement capabilities, supporting supplier diversity initiatives, and driving efficiency in procuring high volume, low dollar design and construction services. Duties and Responsibilities Procurement Function Management (50%) Provides leadership across Facilities departments on procurement best practices. Establishes a high-quality service-oriented approach to save Facilities partners time and effort. Builds effective relationships with internal business partners; assures robust communication. Ensures effective training and transfer of knowledge to clients. Develops and implements metrics measuring departmental performance against University goals. Ensures systems are user-friendly and support efficiency. Establishes clear processes and tools for contract authoring and document retention. Streamlines the procurement process to ensure compliance and faster cycle times. Keeps abreast of industry best practices and trends in purchasing and payment. Maintains design and construction contract templates reflecting best practices. Develops an analytically focused team using spend management tools to inform strategies. Ensures compliance and reporting; interacts with auditors and implements recommendations. Strategic Planning (20%) Provides leadership and strategic direction for procurement of design, construction, and related services. Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with strategic partners across campus. Team Leadership & Development (30%) Manages and inspires the FCFP procurement team; responsibilities include mentoring and career development. Develops business plans and operational strategies with the Executive Director. Ensures compliance with University and Facilities policies. Complex Tasks, Key Decision-Making, Special Demands This position has a significant level of purchasing and payment authority and is authorized to sign contracts up to $100,000 on behalf of the University. Unquestionable integrity and responsibility are required. This position also requires compliance with policies and regulations and responsiveness during non-standard working hours. Qualifications Formal Education: Degree in economics, finance, operations, business, or relevant discipline. Work Experience: Ten (10) years senior level experience in procurement, contract administration, or relevant supply chain management. Essential: Experienced leader fluent in multiple disciplines. Experience procuring design, construction, and related services. Ability to articulate a clear vision and execute strategies. Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders. Success in developing and implementing strategic initiatives. Strong analytical ability and conceptual thinking skills. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills. Strong negotiation skills and dedication to customer service. In-depth knowledge of sourcing and procurement principles. Extensive experience drafting contract language. Strong commitment to diversity and inclusion. Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools. Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in supply chain management. CPM or CPSM certification. MBA, MS, or relevant advanced degree. Experience with eProcurement tools. Experience with large capital project portfolios. Experience with different types of construction contracts. Experience with large, complex contracts. Experience with project delivery methods. Experience with dispute resolution.
