Job Description

Job Description
Data Analyst

FLO Analytics (FLO) is seeking a full-time Data Analyst to join us remotely from anywhere in the US. As our ideal candidate, you excel in demographic analysis, possess strong project management skills, and have a knack for innovative thinking. In this role, you'll take on technical and analytical challenges while working with a collaborative team, building relationships with clients, and directly influencing decisions in K-12 education systems. Your expertise will guide school districts in planning for the future, and you'll play a key role in advancing demographic research and data analytics across the country.

As a Data Analyst, you will...

Develop student enrollment forecasts for K-12 school districts, using demographic methods and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to analyze population data, land use and housing information, birth rates, and migration patterns. You'll create data visualizations-such as tables, charts, and maps-to support a variety of planning projects and present your findings to school officials, boards, and the public. Additionally, you'll conduct attendance area boundary reviews, long-term planning, and capacity evaluations, helping school districts prepare for growth.

Project management is a central part of this role, as you'll work closely with clients to define project scopes, develop timelines, and deliver customized solutions. You'll also collaborate with team members and external partners, sharing insights and developing innovative approaches to demographic forecasting and analysis.

To thrive in this role, you must have...

We're looking for someone with at least 2 years of experience in demography, population, geography, geography, statistics, or a related field (or 1+ years with a Master's or PhD), though 4+ years is preferred. You should have proficiency in demographic methods, population estimation techniques, and GIS tools. Experience with Excel, database software, and data processing tools like Alteryx or similar platforms is essential. Strong project management, analytical, and communication skills are a must, and you should be comfortable working both independently and within a team.

Experience working with K-12 school districts, especially in enrollment forecasting, is highly valued though not required. Familiarity with tools like Python, R, SPSS, SAS, Stata, and SQL will set you apart, as will any background in consulting with school districts or local governments.
