DATA CENTER TECHNICIAN
We are seeking a Data Center Technician to join a dynamic team at a well-known leader in the tech industry. This role offers the chance to work hands-on with cutting-edge equipment in a state-of-the-art facility, supporting data center operations and maintaining smooth infrastructure functionality. You'll be part of a team known for innovative customer engagement solutions, collaborating closely to ensure the reliability and organization of our data centers.
Location: Onsite in Santa Clara, CA (2972 Stender Way Santa Clara CA 95054)
Shift: Monday to Friday, 2 PM to 10 PM
Key Responsibilities
- Install and configure data center equipment, including compute, network, storage, racks, PDUs, and cabling.
- Monitor infrastructure to proactively prevent failures and mitigate service disruptions.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware and connectivity issues; escalate as necessary.
- Collaborate with Operations teams to resolve hardware failures and physical connectivity problems.
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with remote hands at external data centers.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of data center configurations and changes.
- Establish and uphold high standards for all data center operations.
- Manage asset inventory, including installed equipment and spare parts.
- Handle shipping, receiving, and RMA processes.
- Ensure the data center is clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
- Update and resolve assigned tickets and tasks promptly.
- Adhere to change management processes and participate in after-hours maintenance windows.
- Provide 24/7 support as needed to ensure uninterrupted operations.
Key Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with data center technologies, including compute, network, storage, cabling, racks, and PDUs.
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of cooling, power, and space resource planning; Linux/Unix system administration; and SAN connectivity.
- Vendor Management: Experience working with vendors on quotes, purchasing, RMAs, and support.
- Inventory Management: Understanding of shipping, receiving, inventory, and distribution practices.
- Scripting: Familiarity with scripting for automation is a plus.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- Work Environment: Proven ability to support a 24/7 customer-facing production environment and solve hardware issues independently.
