Summary: Goldbelt C6, LLC., is seeking a Public Affairs Advisor to provide public affairs coordination necessary to meet mission requirements within the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs (EB) and the Bureau of Energy Resources (ENR).
Essential Job Functions: Coordinate with TFS leadership, the Bureau’s Senior Media Advisor, Department of State bureaus, and the interagency to calibrate messaging. Draft and clear through the Department and interagency statements, tweets, releases, toppers, videos, fact sheets, press guidance, etc. Clear through the Bureau and/or Department statements, tweets, releases, fact sheets, press guidance, etc. originating from other agencies and bureaus. Work with the Bureau, Department, and interagency on press/social media rollout plans to amplify major sanctions activities. Prepare TFS leadership and working level officers for media events and public appearances. Build positive relationships with journalists who cover sanctions issues. Clear through the Bureau, Department, and interagency interviews for TFS leadership and working level officers and make logistical arrangements as needed. Draft and review outgoing internet and social media content for proper format, consistency with policy guidance, and grammatical accuracy, and make necessary corrections or return to the originator for changes. Ensure that TFS’ website is kept up to date. Field media inquiries by clearing responses through the Bureau, Department and interagency, determining ground rules, and relaying to reporters. Coordinate with the Department’s Global Public Affairs (GPA) Bureau to update actions website pages. Keep TFS leadership and staff appraised of media coverage and of sanctions messaging coming from USG leadership. Coordinate TFS messaging on the Bureau’s major social media accounts including Facebook and Twitter. Draft and review outgoing digital content for proper format, tone, and consistency with policy guidance. Serve as TFS’ primary liaison with GPA on development, production, and digital amplification of media content. Coordinate with Public Affairs sections at overseas posts to ensure that bureau officials' official travel is promoted online. Knowledge of the organizational structure of the State Department is required. In addition, it is expected that the incumbent will become familiar with EB operations and counter threat finance and sanctions issues.
Necessary Skills and Knowledge: Experience in general practices within the Federal Government, and specifically within the Department of State. Experience working with staff of all levels. Ability to act as liaison. Experience in applying government regulations and procedures, such as travel regulations as they pertain to domestic and international travel. The ability to plan, organize, and prioritize multiple assignments with tight deadlines that often require coordination with other organizations. Proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access) to collect, organize, prepare, and present information to a variety of audiences. The ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to provide information and assistance, prepare correspondence and reports, discuss procedures, participate in meetings, and solve problems. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or work experience related to statistical and research methodology. Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Some travel may be required. Additional hours may be required, sometimes with little or no advance notice. Preferred Qualifications: Currently has an active Secret clearance. Prior experience working with the U.S. Department of State is highly desired. Understanding of the culture and environment. Pay Range: $105,000 - $115,000 annually.
