Qualifications
B.A., B.S., or M.S. degree preferably in a technical field (e.g., biological sciences, laboratory science, or engineering) 10+ years of experience in the medical industry working in pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, or medical devices 3+ years of product marketing experience or prior business development experience Ability to travel globally up to 30% of the time Exceptional project management skills, with proven ability to clearly define objectives and priorities, establish milestones, anticipate, and mitigate risks, lead cross-functional teams to meet and exceed goals in a dynamic environment, while maintaining strong attention to detail and quick recall Demonstrated robust analytical individual skills related to financial modeling, market analytics, ongoing performance – the ability to execute independently and through others while maintaining a high-standard of deliverables Responsibilities
You will work across divisions with cross-functional stakeholders in Global Marketing, Commercial Leadership, Research & Development, Medical & Scientific Affairs, Operations, Quality Assurance & Regulatory Affairs and Finance This role will report to the Director Portfolio Strategy & Business Development in our Lake Forest, IL location Identify, evaluate, negotiate, and manage the most complex or strategically important divisional business development opportunities, which will contribute to the organization's long-term business goals Collaborate on market landscape work to identify winning target product profiles as an integral member of the strategy team Search for companies and technologies that meet our target product profile and identify ways we could partner through venture investment, co-development, licensing and/or acquisition Be the primary relationship manager with outside companies; coordinating meetings, data rooms, site visits and evaluations Lead cross-functional Abbott team to identify appropriate experts to assess opportunities Build business cases outlining investment opportunity, risks and financial returns Partner with ventures or licensing & acquisition teams throughout the process Build and manage funnel of business development opportunities supporting multiple strategy areas simultaneously with routine updates to executive management Deliver proactive, transparent, and effective communications cadence to ensure timely dissemination of information with the executive leadership teams and matrix stakeholders Benefits
