Thursday, October 10, 2024Lili’uokalani Center (LC):Informed by a deep understanding of the adolescent experience and grounded in Hawaiian culture, the new LC will provide Hawaiian youth with opportunities to connect to peers and mentors, receive supportive services, and discover pathways to passion, purpose, and prosperity. LC will be LT’s signature youth development hub for culture, creativity, technology, and play, and will serve as a resource center where youth can connect to vital supports and a vibrant community. LC will be a safe space located in urban Honolulu where youth are inspired to pursue their dreams, including exploring pathways in the arts, sports, technology, and entrepreneurship while receiving wraparound support to help them reach their goals and become thriving adults. A primary function of LC will be to provide a space for young people to play, to learn, to find connection and inspiration, and to experience joy.Currently under construction, LC is set to open in Spring of 2025.Job PurposeThe Business Manager is responsible for supporting the operations and administrative management of Liliuokalani Center (LC). Reporting to the Operations Director, the Business Manager is a strong communicator and liaison, able to build relationships with peers across diverse functional teams, both internally and externally, ensuring that projects and operations remain on track and consistently progressing. Additionally, as a steward of the Queen’s resources, this position will seek the maximization of available capital, ensuring that ongoing projects and operations remain within allocated budgets for each month, quarter, and year. A key member of the LC team, this role oversees operational budgets, drafts and reviews contracts, and writes and edits reports, among other critical tasks.In collaboration with program leadership, inventory tasks and activities and develop project timelines.Oversee activities and progression of projects including program planning, contract development and execution, operational modeling, budgeting, and appropriate staffing.Prepare documents, reports, and presentations as needed.In collaboration with teammates and leadership, create annual budget proposal and oversee budget management and expenditures for all assigned programs and projects.Establish workflows and standards for general administrative and operational functions.In collaboration with program leads and teammates, ensure that the operational needs of each program are identified, evaluated, and met in the most efficient manner.Seek to optimize communication opportunities and guide internal and external messaging to ensure that teams remain on track with timelines, goals, and overall efficient business operations.Conduct research and provide recommended solutions that are data informed and tailored to specific needs.Regularly seek out cross-functional knowledge to further understand issues, trends, and perspectives that may influence LT’s mission, programs, and business objectives.Advise and support teammates in partnership development with national and regional youth service professionals.In collaboration with LC and LT leadership, develop a network including current and potential contractors, community leaders, partnering organizations, specialized internal talent, etc. in support of LC programming.Project Management and AdministrationDevelop and maintain file management systems for each assigned project and program.Ensure accuracy and completeness of records and follow standardized procedures for permanent records retention and retrieval.Create and propose standard procedures for ongoing tasks and operations in the areas of budgeting, contracts, reports, and grants.Identify, evaluate, and implement improvements to procedures in tandem with new developments and organizational changes.Act as liaison with Risk and Compliance team to ensure that agreements are aligned to the specific details of each program, and support creation, editing, execution, and maintenance of all appropriate agreements and contracts.Routinely coordinate project plans and facilitate meetings to ensure successful progression of LT projects.Review project plans and provide recommendations to ensure alignment with organizational goals, incorporating feedback from leadership and other project stakeholders.Maintain accountability for the progression and success of approved business, project, and program plans.Support quality control efforts in alignment with leadership’s vision and in consideration of feedback from teammates, participants, and other external parties.OtherLead other projects as assigned.Effectively communicate with stakeholders, including participants, staff, and external partners, to promote LC, develop and maintain strong community ties, and ensure integration into the larger LT and community ecosystem.Participate in continuing education and training opportunities for professional development.Contribute to LT’s success through collaboration, communication, and knowledge-sharing with all teammates to improve team and organizational results.Contribute to the Trustʻs success by accepting new assignments, helping team members, learning new skills, and collaborating as we strive to attain the Trustʻs strategic goals.Provide transportation for organization related business, such as driving staff and beneficiaries to assigned destinations.Evening and weekend hours required, as needed.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsBachelor's degree in business, project management, public administration, or other field; OR equivalent experience.Must be a strong writer with working experience preparing and writing grants and reports.5 years of experience managing complex projects, youth programs, or programs in human services (education, health, housing, social work, etc.).Must be an efficient communicator, verbal and written, and able to engage with teammates and external partners at different organizational levels and various demographics.Experience working with youth populations in a community setting preferred.Supervisory experience preferred.Ability to manage a team while dealing with high pressure deliverables, deadlines, and logistically complex processes and projects, and work across multiple units of the organization. Ability to influence others through setting of shared goals, communication, data sharing and transparency.Experienced negotiator who is able to cultivate and manage relationships with all team members.
