25AAMM19D20241024 Location: New York, NY, USA The Americas Middle Market segment is a newly defined underwriting unit within AXA XL’s Americas region. With a deep focus on starting with the client and tailoring solutions that matter most to our segment, this role will drive the development of a key product capability that is paramount to our broker partners and clients. This leader will lead the launch in market of a combined liability and environmental solution product capability and oversee the market launch and underwriting of this program. This leader will closely coordinate with key broker partners in this growing segment to validate hypotheses and ensure this market entry is a success, fully capitalizing on the opportunity to address this client need. This role will also collaborate in partnership with our UW leaders across AXA XL, particularly Middle Market, to drive a cross-sell strategy that serves the holistic coverage needs of our clients and brings AXA XL products to bear. Following product launch, this leader will be a key driver of growth in this segment by building and developing a market-leading team of UW talent. Essential Responsibilities: Develop a roadmap to drive new environmental solution to market in partnership with key supporting functions including Pricing & Actuarial, Legal, Claims and Compliance. Develop the overall appetite and go-to-market strategy for aligned product set ensuring breadth of appetite allows to maximize and deliver profitable growth for the line of business. Create strategic plans for the line of business, including identifying key broker partners for launch and long-term growth plans for the segment. Meet regularly with key broker partners aligning on opportunities in market and develop an advisory council to continuously provide feedback on evolving market needs. Make key underwriting hires to build a well-rounded team with deep expertise in this area and mentor team members to develop talent and overall bench strength. Maintain a deep understanding of the Environmental market and consistently scan the market to ensure our product set retains an industry-leading position and serves the evolving needs of our customer base. Partner closely with counterparts across AXA XL to understand our full suite of products, appetite and opportunities to introduce cross-sell options as well as innovative, integrated products that better address our client’s unique exposures. Provide a great deal of product line depth and understanding to liaise effectively with partners in other cross-functional units, including Risk Control, Claims, Legal, Regulatory & Compliance as well as Reinsurance. Serve as a key leadership member of the Americas Middle Market Product team and help shape and influence strategic plans across the broader Middle Market product portfolio. As an industry thought leader for the Environmental space, represent AXA XL at key industry events and conferences alongside key broker partners, insureds, and potential prospects. Qualifications: Extensive Commercial Underwriting and/or technical experience with the vast majority of that time focused on the Environmental lines of business. Requires at least three years of prior people management experience. BA/BS degree or equivalent; key insurance designations such as CPCU, RPLU, or ARM. Deep experience working externally within the environmental market with established broker relationships. Extensive knowledge and expertise of the technical aspects of Environmental and Pollution lines Underwriting with the ability to translate that experience into thorough Technical UW guidelines and training modules; deep knowledge of standard P&C and the core Casualty lines, particularly general liability. Ability to draft coverage form language and intimate knowledge of the product development cycle. Understanding of rating and experience working closely with Actuarial to develop pricing strategies for unique coverages and exposures. Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills with the ability to obtain cooperation and participation of individuals and groups. Compensation: The U.S. pay range for this position is USD 230,000 – 270,000. Actual pay will be determined based upon the individual’s skills, experience, and location.
