The Warehouse Assistant assumes responsibility for performing duties related to shipping and handling, receiving materials, assembly of products, inventory management, establishing and maintaining effective communications with fellow team members and necessary persons, and for the safety and cleanliness of the warehouse.
These duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Works directly with the Assistant Warehouse Manager to perform the day-to-day tasks of the warehouse.
- Maintains records of all outgoing and incoming shipments from and to the warehouse daily.
- Prepares shipping documents and completes mailing labels.
- Ensures that all orders are fulfilled correctly and processed efficiently.
- Maintains shipping supplies inventory.
- Drives to pick up, drop off or receive orders from vendors and shipments to clients.
- Checks received material as to compliance with the packing list and purchase order or RMA form.
- Communicates inventory shortages according to present and future needs.
- Load, unload and organize product and equipment as needed
- Ability to operate Forklift and hand operated Pallet Jack
- Maintains organization and cleanliness of the warehouse, yard area and associated equipment.
- Assists with assembly of products sold.
- Completes work in a neat and safe manner.
- Seeks growth in expanding knowledge and skills through training and education.
- Presents self in clean, neat, professional manner and wears company uniform (if provided) in its entirety.
- Communicates questions and concerns to management.
- Engages in the company’s vision and seeks to implement processes and establish goals with the company’s vision in mind.
- Complies with company policies and procedures.
- Performs other miscellaneous duties assigned.
Required Skills and Knowledge
- Ability to express ideas clearly in written and oral communication with team members to complete various duties and responsibilities.
- Ability to organize excellently.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions, operations and duties.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding when dealing with any problem.
- Ability to perform basic math skills including, but not limited to addition, subtraction multiplication, and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply basic knowledge of computers and office equipment.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to repeatedly lift 50-75+ pounds.
- Must be able to repeatedly walk, sit, stand, climb, twist/turn, push/pull, squat, crawl/kneel, and reach above shoulder.
- Must be able to perform repetitive hand/wrist/arm movements.
Minimum Requirements
- Previous warehouse or shipping/receiving experience is considered a plus
- Previous experience with hand/power tools is a plus
- Valid Driver’s License
