Job Description
Job Summary/Objective:
The Warehouse Manager is responsible for supervising the receipt, dispatching and storage of the company’s incoming and outgoing goods and supplies. They are responsible for monitoring warehouse staff, vehicles, and other equipment and overseeing the security, sanitation and administrative functions of the warehouse.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Monitors daily, weekly and monthly tasks to ensure company’s productivity targets are met. Analyzes productivity metrics and produces reports and statistics.
- Supervises warehouse teams, holds regularly scheduled team meetings and assist with performance reviews to ensure efficiency and productivity of the team.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local regulations (OSHA, DOL, etc.) and all NextEdge’s policies and procedures.
- Creates and documents processes and standards for efficiencies and cost savings.
- Assists in controlling labor costs through effective planning, scheduling and training.
- Recommends/implements ways to improve performance, efficiencies and cost savings.
- Manages all files and records including payroll, inventory, shipping & receiving, etc.
- Responds to and deals with customers issues, problems and needs.
- Manages the inventory levels of company and customer products.
- Oversees the planned maintenance of warehouse tools, machinery, and equipment.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum three (3) years progressive supervisory/managerial experience in a warehouse environment
- WMS or similar warehouse management system experience
- Well verse in Lean concepts, 5S, Standard Work, etc.
- Proficient in commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within the warehousing industry.
Preferred and Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
- College education or business management development/work experience preferred
- Possesses a valid driver’s license
- Ability to drive a forklift
Skills Required:
- Basic MS office skills (Word, Powerpoint, Outlook)
- Strong Analytical and critical thinking skills
- Strong written and verbal communication and comprehension skills
- Strong attention to detail and an emphasis on safety
- Excellent time management skills with an ability to shift priorities and multi-task when necessary. Ability to recognize urgencies and prioritize workloads.
- Strong teambuilding skills with the ability to build respectful relationships with peers.
- Excellent organization skills and work ethic.
Direct/Indirect Supervisory Responsibility:
- Manages one to five team members which includes collaboration with appropriate parties within the company on hiring, terminations, performance management and disciplinary activity.
- Sets goals for performance and deadlines in ways the comply with company and clients plans and vision.
- Trains new staff in the department.
- Organizes/oversees workflow and ensures that employees understand their duties or delegated tasks.
- Monitors employee productivity and provides constructive feedback and coaching. Provides timely performance evaluations.
- Partners with HR/Legal to address performance issues of employees in accordance with company policy.
Work Environment/Physical Demands/Travel Required:
- Routinely drives assigned vehicles
- Work is split between an unairconditioned warehouse environment and an office setting
- Occasional travel may be required (less than 10%)
- Physical demands include frequent sitting, walking, standing and occasional balancing, bending and lifting.
