Known as “A Good Place to Live,” Mechanicsburg sits less than an hour away from healthy outdoor fun, such as the Rocky Ridge Park and the Heritage Rail Trail. Mechanicsburg itself offers excitement and a variety of options. The Cumberland Valley R.R. Station takes visitors back to Mechanicsburg’s early days. So does the Frankenberger Tavern. You will find casual dining and specialty shops Downtown. If you prefer peace and quiet, you might want to take a stroll along the Susquehanna River or take in a show at the Community Theatre. Mechanicsburg hosts national events. Every April, the Earth Day Festival draws visitors from around the country. In May, crowds attend the Art Walk and Wine Tasting. June’s treat is Jubilee Day, the largest one-day street fair on the East Coast. Year-round, the Artisan Market at Historic Square provides opportunities to browse, sample great eating places and try out local beer. Fun-seekers, hikers, horseback riders, bikers, history buffs and sightseers can find activities to occupy their time outside of work.
