About the role

This position will play a vital role in our high volume mail order pharmacy. As a closed door pharmacy, our focus is on fulfilling patient prescriptions in an accurate, timely manner. Patient interaction will be limited.

Responsibilities

  • All activities will be performed under the direct supervision of a pharmacist
  • Filling individual prescription orders both manually and with the aid of a semi-automated device prior to final verification by a pharmacist
  • Cassette filling of semi-automated dispensing device
  • Bubble packing medications
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work environment
  • Packing orders for shipping
  • Fulfilling over the counter orders in the adjacent warehouse
  • Checking inventory into the pharmacy and inventory management systems
  • Routinely checking for and quarantining outdated medications
  • Perform continuing education required for pharmacy technician certification renewal (at such a time that Pennsylvania statutes require it)
  • Receiving and organizing: Unloading deliveries, moving and organizing merchandise, and putting away inventory
  • Processing orders: Reading and understanding work orders, picking items, and labeling products
  • Packing and shipping: Inspecting items for damage, packaging them, and loading them onto trucks
  • Quality control: Ensuring that products meet quality requirements and that shipments are accurate
  • Inventory cycle counting
  • Updating systems: Updating inventory tracking systems and finalizing work orders
  • May be trained to use a forklift
  • Kitting/preparing inventory needs for the pharmacy and Amazon
  • Any other duties assigned by a manager or pharmacist

Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to perform basic math (addition, subtraction and multiplication) and count accurately
  • Dedication to punctuality and low absenteeism
  • Ability to study and pass pharmacy technician certification examination with either the PTCB or NHA at such a time that Pennsylvania statutes require it

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Mail order pharmacy experience
  • Ability to learn and perform operations within pharmacy management software systems
  • Fast learner with a detail oriented mindset
  • Perform effectively as a member of a larger team
