Senior Field Signaling Inspector
– 3rd Shift Opportunity (Midnight to 8 AM) Includes some weekend and occasional holiday work ARC Alternative and Renewable Construction LLC is seeking a seasoned Senior Field Signaling Inspector to take a leadership role in overseeing the installation, integration, and testing of signaling systems. This opportunity is for 3rd shift, midnight to 8 AM, with some weekend and occasional holiday work required. As a senior team member, you will be responsible for coordinating Field Signaling Inspectors, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring that signaling projects are completed with the highest quality and precision. Responsibilities Inspection and oversight of bi-directional signaling system installation, integration, testing and cutover including track circuits, control points, control lines and interlockings. Scheduled inspection and oversight activities include day/night and weekday/weekend work.
Coordinate the work of Field Signals Inspectors throughout the entire project's development and act as a mentor to other staff members as needed.
Participate in internal and client project reviews.
Conduct schematic, design implementation and testing/integration work sessions at the project site in conjunction with the Project Manager, design staff and other disciplines.
Review specifications, design and construction submittals, and related documents.
Review Interfacing designs with communications systems, rail vehicles, station signaling equipment and other transit systems elements.
Support requirements management, quality control and assurance, and demonstration of compliance.
Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, and identify discrepancies or conflicts within the documents.
Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications - External Technical Qualifications A minimum of 15 years of Signaling system experience or a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with a minimum 10 years of Signaling system experience; in similar positions with a Railroad/Transit Authority, Signaling Manufacturer, or Engineering firm, or equivalent, developing, installing or inspecting signaling and train control systems.
Experience with preliminary engineering, and/or final design packages including design criteria, drawings and specifications and construction drawing packages.
Expertise in multiple phases of the systems development life cycle, from analysis, design, implementation through factory, field and acceptance testing and commissioning (preferably on both re-signaling and greenfield projects).
Familiarity with Mass Transit/Railroad operating concepts.
Understanding of FRA or FTA regulations and AREMA standards and practices.
Proficiency with basic IT tools such as MS Office programs.
The ability to work in this country immediately (required).
General Qualifications The Senior Signaling Inspector will be able to complete high-quality work in a team environment on-time, with minimal supervision. Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with clients, supervisors, team members and suppliers are a must, as are good analytical and problem-solving skills. Good analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to use structured methods to identify root causes, create resolution options, evaluate impacts and implement the selected solution.
Ability to work with minor supervision and to conduct oneself in all project and company matters according to approved policies and procedures in a professional manner.
Ability to work night and weekend shifts.
Preferred Experience The candidate will have experience in both transit and railroad signaling and can pro-actively lead tasks and be innovative in solving complex challenges. As such, additional experience preferred in this role includes: Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
Train Control application.
AFTC signaling system development or maintenance.
Grade crossing modifications and enhancements.
Electrification modifications, either 3rd rail or OCS.
Leadership of integration and interface coordination meetings.
Operations control center and SCADA experience.
Additional experience in infrastructure or other systems integration.
Work with rail operations modeling.
FRA/FTA safety certification and acceptance testing processes.
