Renewables Regulatory Policy Leader, ERCOT & Southwest (Director-VP level talent)
Locations: FULLY REMOTE (Anywhere in the USA)
This is an opportunity to join an industry-leading renewable energy venture and IPP with strong private equity backing that is focused on the development/execution of dynamic utility-scale energy storage projects. They are at the forefront of the industry, have accumulated over 9GW+ of projects in a relatively short period of time, and are currently in an accelerated expansion phase.
The Regulatory Policy Leader takes on a regional scope of work that covers ISOs/RTOs in the US Southwest markets. A key focus of the role initially will be identifying and creating ERCOT-based growth opportunities, risk mitigation strategies, transmission market monitoring/participation, and power market development through public policy initiatives for innovative utility-scale energy storage projects. Strategic leadership experience with Transmission Market Design, Policy, or ISO/RTO competitive market frameworks along with ERCOT / PUCT specific exposures are critical.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and implement tactical corporate strategies to manage project regulatory efforts including influencing policy development across the Southwest Region with a key focus on ERCOT. Drive the identification of opportunities/threats based on the company's project development objectives through the support of RFPs and drafting/negotiating of market design proposals. Act as a Regulatory Subject Matter Expert (SME) to the Project development, EPC, and transmission market analytics teams for ERCOT / PUCT filings and other state filling protocols in the Southwest Regions. Lead regulatory efforts to move projects aggressively through the ISO / RTO interconnection processes. Manage internal and external stakeholders working with industry associations, legislators, and regulators on regulatory policy as well as market design initiatives. Work hands-on with origination and development teams on power marketing decisions. QUALIFICATIONS:
Utility-scale renewable energy regulatory affairs and market policy experience working with IPPs / Developers / Owners. Corporate leadership and stakeholder management experience dealing with regulatory bodies across the Southwest Region like ERCOT, Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT), and TRE. MUST have PROVEN market design, public policy, and regulatory experience in the ERCOT market. Successful track record navigating complex regulatory initiatives for utility scale renewable energy. Very well versed in regulatory commercial negotiation and risk mitigation tactics. Direct experience with the renewable energy legislation process as it relates to project development. Ability to participate (or quickly learn to participate) in advanced level discussions in the utility-scale renewables (solar, wind, storage), transmission, and battery storage space. Experience with renewables battery storage or energy storage projects is NOT required but HIGHLY DESIRABLE.
