POSITION SUMMARY
The Executive Director advocates for the arts and their impact on the region’s quality of life and economic development. The Executive Director will ensure the successful planning and implementation of Quad City Arts' strategic direction and operational responsibilities to develop new programs while successfully delivering existing programming. This leadership role is expected to create a vision for the organization and implement it at the direction of the Board of Directors.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Actively engage, motivate, and train the Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, funders, and community to ensure ongoing programmatic excellence.
Research, plan, implement, and review current and future program opportunities.
Develop an annual budget to support the goals of the organization and ensure revenue is earned.
Plan the resource development process, capturing all possible avenues to deliver maximum revenue.
Establish communication plans to fully engage donors, funders, educators, and the community about the impact of Quad City Art.
Assess, develop, motivate, and review staff to achieve excellent standards.
Ensure the recruitment, training, and motivation of volunteers.
Plan, manage, and oversee the spaces Quad City Arts occupies, including the office, the Rock Island gallery, the Art at the Airport gallery, and any borrowed or rented spaces used for programs or events.
Embrace evolving technology and continually update the processes used to conduct the organization’s business.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
Grow the existing programs and create new ones to support the mission of the organization.
Expand the footprint and impact of Quad City Arts by creating a “Quad City Arts Center” with the help of the board, staff, and ArtSpace.
Build a strategic plan.
Maintain Quad City Arts’ brand identity in the region, keeping it a well-recognized organization.
Maintain Quad City Arts' position as a trend leader in cultural arts for the region.
Maintain financial stability.
Reach out to and engage a younger audience.
Actively recruit and train a board of directors that is active in development and fundraising.
Take innovative approaches to fundraising and program planning.
Remain focused on the core principles of Quad City Arts.
Continue to collaborate with the organizations in the Cultural Trust: The Figge Art Museum, Putnam Museum and Science Center, Quad City Botanical Center, Quad City Symphony Orchestra, and Common Chord.
Seek funding outside of community grants.
Be open to new ideas.
Build longevity into the organization so that people can enjoy Quad City Arts’ programming for years to come.

PAST EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Demonstrated experience fundraising for a non-profit.
Experience in a leadership role.
Previous experience planning and hosting community events.
Familiar with marketing and social media.
Previous involvement in a community that demonstrates strong networking capability.
Budget and P&L experience.
Experience managing people.
Demonstrated leadership experience in a small organization, 10-30 people.
Has served on a board of directors or has been a board chair.
Previous involvement with a non-profit.
Prefer experience working with creative people.
Operational experience.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year university and/or related experience.
3-10 years of people management experience.
A willingness to work some nights and weekends.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation and public speaking experience.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Quick Books, and similar programs.
