Job Title: Warehouse Logistics Specialist

FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt Hourly

Reports to: Assistant Vice President of Warehousing and Logistics

Position Summary: Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Warehousing and Logistics. The Warehouse Logistics Specialist is responsible for analyzing and implementing process improvement efficiencies and monitoring warehousing, inventory, and transportation operations when applicable. The Warehouse Logistics Specialist role provides ongoing, high-quality administrative support with project management responsibility, working directly with the Assistant Vice President of Warehousing and Logistics.

Position Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with maintaining and continually improving process efficiencies for the transportation, warehouse, and inventory control teams, including receiving, storage, replenishment, picking, sorting, and distribution of food through all GBFB points of distribution, ensuring compliance with regulatory bodies, including Feeding America, city, state, and federal entities.
  • Create and utilize business metrics and benchmarks for all warehousing, transportation, and inventory control processes, including receiving, storing, replenishing, picking, sorting, and distributing food through all GBFB distribution points. Communicate and report on such processes to all relevant Team GBFB staff.
  • In conjunction with the Assistant Vice President of Warehousing and Logistics, assist in designing and delivering annual work plans for warehousing, inventory, and transportation operations, including discussions and recommendations around strategic issues and process efficiency improvements, and execute with excellence.
  • When applicable, work with other Department Heads to proactively identify issues, opportunities, and solutions about agency members, food donations, food safety, distribution, and availability.
  • Scheduling, planning, and organizing meetings, including taking notes for key meetings and editing and posting meeting notes on shared drive within the prescribed time.
  • Responsible for the execution of projects as assigned. Projects may include but are not limited to data consolidation and web searches.
  • Creating, managing, and distributing spreadsheets, reports, and presentations, including graphs and Board-level, quality presentations
  • Identify potential vendors and obtain quotes as needed.
  • Assisting with inventory control – including assisting with cycle counting activities and assisting with reconciliation duties directly on the warehouse floor
  • Providing back-up to other administrative functions, as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned by Management, such as scheduling orders and creating work schedules.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong quantitative orientation, data analysis, and presentation skills
  • Critical thinking skills: understanding the dynamics of the warehouse, inventory, and transportation operations and finding ways to reduce costs and increase efficiencies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, strong prioritization skills, and irrefutable attention to detail.
  • Ability to operate and obtain certification for material handling equipment.
  • Knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, food safety, and other applicable rules and regulations is strongly preferred.

Mandatory Education and Experience:

  • Demonstrates the required digital competencies that result in the practical usage of the full range of digital technologies at GBFB.
  • Class A or B CDL Driver’s license required. Class A license preferred.
  • Associates degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Three years of professional experience supervising or coordinating transportation operations in a Food Warehouse or Food Distribution Center environment
  • At least two consistent years of related experience, demonstrating a commitment to providing quality customer service.
  • Experience in fleet maintenance and utilization of material handling equipment.
  • Experience in creating and managing budgets.
  • Must have knowledge and experience with WMS & ERP systems and DOT regulations.
  • Genuine appreciation of GBFB’s mission and the ability to communicate it.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be able to produce a driving record from the Registry of Motor Vehicles and pass a Pre-Employment background check and drug test.

Physical Demands:

  • Lifting inventory throughout the day, with inventory weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance
  • Ability to spend full workday sitting; working on computer; driving; standing.

Work Environment:

  • Warehouse - working in ambient, cooler, and freezer zones for extended periods.
  • Working with hand and powered equipment at heights up to 30' or more above the floor.
  • Travel required when applicable or as directed.
  • Onsite position only.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements related to helping other Team Members; this may include setting up tables and chairs, moving things, and lifting boxes that weigh 25 lbs.
  • Ability to work within an open-air/cubicle environment.
