The Clean Ammonia Site is a state-of-the-art and world scale facility based in Nederland TX. The Clean Ammonia value chain is designed to produce low carbon ammonia and is a frontrunner in decarbonizing energy and downstream value chains.
The Plant Director is responsible for leading the commissioning, start-up and Manufacturing operations of the Clean Ammonia Site. The Plant Director ensures the plant meets the strategic goals and objectives of the organization, as well as the quality, safety, and environmental standards. The plant director manages the budget, resources, and staff of the plant, and coordinates with other departments and stakeholders to ensure optimal engagement and performance.
The Plant Director will have direct oversight of Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Technology, HSE, TAR, and Capital Projects. Employment will transfer to Woodside Petroleum post start up.
Your scope of responsibility
Commissioning, start up and Manufacturing operations of the Clean Ammonia facility
Compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, policies, and procedures, and maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and environmental protection
Development and implementation of the Site’s vision, mission, and strategy in alignment with the global organization's goals and values.
Development and implementation of Manufacturing improvement initiatives to continuously improve performance
Manage the Site’s budget, resources, and assets, and optimize the utilization of equipment, materials, and labor
Lead, motivate, and develop the Site’s staff, and foster a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and continuous learning.
Engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, contractors, regulators, and senior management.
What you bring to OCI
Education, Experience, and/or Training
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent
10+ years of relevant experience. Commissioning and start-up experience of green and/or brownfield developments are an advantage.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Content driven leader that is comfortable working in a playing captain role
Strong focus on delivery with a can-do positive attitude
Engaging and empowering with strong ability to motivate the team and Site workforce
Adaptable and flexible, aware of own leadership style and capable of flexing that style to suit circumstances and those they lead
Developing other leaders, delegating effectively with controls and holding their team accountable for delivery
Capacity to look through complexity and set out direction for the organization. Ability and interest to – selectively – get involved into the specifics to understand where improvement is needed and get traction at the shopfloor.
Proven track record to lead an improvement journey in a Manufacturing environment with the characteristics of an Ammonia facility, i.e. continuous operation with hazardous fluids at high pressures and temperatures
Deep understanding of process safety
Travel
Less than 10% of the time.
