This role has a deep technical background in IT engineering and IT operations and seamlessly works between these groups. Stays current with IT trends, best practices and technology solutions to incorporate into OCC. Director of Compute Services will lead and manage our on-premises and public cloud compute infrastructure including physical, virtualized, and containerized capacity. This role requires strong leadership and people management skills, transformation experience, and deep technical expertise in Cisco UCS, Dell, Virtualization, Linux / Windows Operating systems and Kubernetes. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily. Set the strategic direction for the organization's compute infrastructure, security and automation in support of critical OCC business needs. Establish IT user support processes, standards, metrics, monitoring, and reporting in order to ensure IT Infrastructure is available, responsive, and achieving business outcomes and objectives. Develop an overall roadmap for all infrastructure areas to ensure transparency on the delivery of new services and capabilities and to understand upgrade and replacement needs for existing infrastructure. Assess and communicate the impacts, trade-offs, risks, costs, benefits, and opportunities of IT solutions. Collaborate closely with other business and technology teams to assure transparency and consistent direction in priorities. Provide project leadership, including work direction and feedback to the sponsors, project leads and teams for high-priority infrastructure initiatives. Negotiate and resolve conflicting change requests and changing priorities across projects; facilitating solutions to complex problems. Oversee, monitor, and report progress on complex and/or multiple infrastructure projects related to schedules, budgets, and quality. Plan and Deploy for Business Results, which includes the ability to develop and implement business plans, IT plans, budget plans, and human resource plans in order to maximize budget allocations, technology, personnel and other resources to achieve agency and program goals. Coach and mentor infrastructure staff, and handle escalation tickets for infrastructure-related issues, including system down scenarios. Partner with the IT Vendor Management Office and Procurement to ensure that the services and performance of major partners are examined through a quarterly business review. Supervisory Responsibilities: Manages a team of 3-5 people leaders and individual contributors. Technical Skills: [Required] Experience using the following: VMware RHEL OS Windows OS Kubernetes Active Directory Splunk [Required] Experience building cloud infrastructure in environments such as AWS (Preferred), Azure, or Google Cloud, or similar service. [Required] Experience directing use of tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, Python, and Github (or industry equivalent). [Required] Experience delivering Infrastructure as code. Education and/or Experience: BS in computer science, management information systems or closely related field. Relevant professional certifications/designations such as IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL), CISCO, Redhat, Microsoft, Rancher preferred. Experience Required: Minimum of ten (10) years of experience with Infrastructure Engineering support and implementation. Minimum of eight (7) years of professional leadership experience managing multiple infrastructure functions in a large enterprise environment. Minimum of eight (7) years of experience in a managerial role with responsibility for leading, training, and mentoring a team of direct reports. Certifications or Licenses: None.
