Our client seeks to expand its leadership team through the addition of a proven Vice President Business Development to ensure that it exploits the opportunity before it. Scope of Position Reporting to the CEO and partnering with all senior stakeholders, the Vice President Business Development shall manage all business development activities in the public sector with a focus on hospitals in Canada and the United States. While working closely with engineering and finance, the position will be responsible for identifying new leads, preparing, and submitting proposals to customers, responding to RFPs, tracking projects at all stages from initial customer contact to project commissioning, and providing weekly and monthly updates via cloud-based platforms. The Vice President Business Development will also be responsible for overseeing teams managing ESG, Sustainability, Marketing and Communications. Functional Tasks Provide hands-on leadership and drive strategic initiatives to identify new business opportunities and foster key partnerships to enhance market presence and align revenue streams with the company’s goals and objectives. Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the public sector with a focus on hospitals, including project acquisitions, partnerships, and joint ventures. Lead the negotiation and closing of high-value contracts and agreements with clients, suppliers, and strategic partners. Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, industry influencers, and potential clients to foster business growth and drive revenue. Conduct market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, competitor activities, and potential market gaps. Collaborate with the engineering, finance, and project management teams to ensure the successful execution of projects and client satisfaction. Lead the development and delivery of compelling business proposals, presentations, and marketing materials to prospective clients. Monitor and report on market developments, industry regulations, and policy changes that may impact the business’s growth strategy. Manage and mentor a diverse team of professionals, providing guidance, support, and performance evaluations. Preferred Experience / Education Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other relevant energy sector designation with relevant experience and an understanding of the electricity and gas markets. A minimum of 10 years of progressive, hands – on experience in project management with a focus in the health care sector. In -depth understanding of the renewable energy space with a proven track of delivering large/mid-scale sustainable energy projects that have made an environmental impact to the institution. Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and partners. Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to work independently, with a team and to collaborate across various departments. Experience in a high-growth, highly entrepreneurial, founder-led environment an asset. Exhibits high standards of business and personal ethical conduct.
