Position Summary:

The Warehouse Specialist is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of the OFS warehouse operations to ensure smooth and efficient food banking distribution, inventory management, and receiving processes. This role involves managing data entry, scheduling, and providing excellent service while collaborating with internal teams to support a variety of organizational programs. With a focus on maintaining food safety standards and fostering a safe, organized workspace, the Warehouse Specialist plays a crucial role in upholding compliance and supporting team development. Bringing a collaborative, customer-centered approach to leadership, the ideal candidate will champion operational excellence and promote an inclusive and supportive work environment.

Essential Functions:

Warehouse and Food Banking Operations:

• Oversee food distribution, receiving, and warehouse maintenance, ensuring processes run smoothly and meet organizational standards.
• Perform data entry, scheduling, and customer service responsibilities, ensuring accurate and accessible information in the inventory system.

Food Safety and Compliance:

• Ensure food safety guidelines are clearly communicated and consistently followed by all warehouse team members.
• Regularly inspect stored inventory to maintain quality standards, removing items that do not align with organizational guidelines.

Program and Community Support:

• Collaborate with internal teams to support the warehouse needs of other programs, such as volunteer events and community initiatives, fostering a welcoming environment for all participants.

Logistics Coordination:

• Work with warehouse colleagues to coordinate incoming shipments and plan for efficient use of resources.
• Manage maintenance and inspection schedules for warehouse equipment, ensuring safe and reliable operation for all users.

Safety and Equipment Training:

• Provide safety training for team members, empowering them to operate warehouse equipment confidently and safely.
• Promote a culture of safety and continuous learning within the warehouse, encouraging team participation in maintaining a secure workspace.

Inclusive Leadership and Team Support:

• Lead daily warehouse operations with a focus on inclusion, safety, and efficiency, creating a positive and collaborative work environment.
• Support the growth and development of team members, recognizing diverse contributions and encouraging team cohesion.

Education and/or Experience:

• 10+ years in warehouse operations, preferably in food banking
• 5+ years of experience in food safety and compliance
• 5+ years in warehouse safety, plus experience with inventory

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Strong leadership and team management abilities.
• Customer service orientation and servant leadership approach.

Special Requirements:

• Occasional travel required for meetings, events, and conferences
• Flexibility in working hours for occasional special events after-hours or weekend activities
• Willingness to volunteer for other OFS duties that don’t fall under regular job duties

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

• Sedentary inside office work with limited exposure to weather conditions
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time, both indoors and outdoors
