Global Market Strategist - Alternatives
The role is within NYLIM’s Global Market Strategy team (GMS). GMS provides critical macroeconomic, geopolitical, and investment-related data, analysis, insights to support client engagement. The team collaborates with public and private markets investors across the NYLIM platform – including equity, fixed income, and alternatives, as well as public and private markets – to identify and cultivate areas of shared conviction regarding market-driving events, investment themes, long-term trends, and portfolio construction. The team reports directly into NYLIM’s Chief Investment Officer. We currently have a position open in our New York location for a highly skilled strategist who will be focused on providing timely and relevant research and thought leadership to (1) drive multi-asset portfolio management decisions and (2) to support NYLIM’s marketing and sales organizations across retail, institutional, and international channels. The position will report to the team’s Chief Market Strategist. GMS looks across geographies and asset classes in its analysis. Contributing to the team’s headline economic perspective would be a core component of the new hire’s responsibilities. This role, newly created, would likely focus on building research and investment conviction in alternative and private markets allocation. What You'll Bring: Developing capital markets perspectives, portfolio strategy, and trade ideas through original research. Applying macroeconomic themes to alternative and private markets conditions. Leveraging perspectives to drive portfolio management decisions and product recommendations. Building relationships and research partnerships across the organization, including CIO and investment teams, in order to identify, pressure test, and socialize key investment convictions. Communicating priority ideas with senior leadership, NYLIM’s retail and institutional sales force, clients, and business partners through different mediums such as white papers, presentations, client meetings, etc. Writing for the firm’s flagship publications and other reports; generating visibility for published work. Generating use cases for NYLIM’s investment solutions in different client channels; developing and delivering materials to support retail and institutional marketing activities. Growing NYLIM’s brand profile with clients, prospects, and the general public. What You'll Do: Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance or related field; pursuit of CFA, MBA or other forms of continued learning a plus. 10-15 years of highly relevant work experience. Direct experience in asset management or strong interest in applying relevant skills to the asset management industry. Fundamental understanding of macroeconomics and the asset management industry. Fundamental understanding of investment products, including equity, fixed income, alternative, and private assets. Applied experience to, or demonstrated interest in developing experience in, alternative and private markets. Ability to learn about, pressure test, and incorporate differing perspectives into a consolidated viewpoint or thesis. Strong writing and communication skills; ability to conduct original research and to craft economic and market narratives. Translate research into content that is applicable to a wide variety of audiences. Attention to detail a must. Highly competent with Excel, PowerPoint and Word, as well as industry tools such as Bloomberg or Macrobond. Comfortable with building relationships across research, portfolio management, sales, and marketing organizations. Comfortable with senior audiences. Ability to work collaboratively to achieve team objectives; interest in debating and discussing economic, market, and investment topics in informal settings. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and complete them on time. Insurance industry or other institutional asset management experience a plus. Submission requirements

Pay Transparency Salary Range: $120,000-$205,000 Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
