The Foster Care Recruiter will provide support to the foster care program by planning, evaluating, executing recruitment, and outreach activities. These activities include but are not limited to: advertising, recruitment of treatment foster parents, administration of application process, creation of foster home files, and assisting the Foster Care Department with projects.

Essential Functions:

  • Recruits new foster parents including completing monthly recruitment plan, scheduling advertising, attending recruitment events and interviewing potential foster parents.
  • Responsible for the entire recruitment cycle which includes seeking Treatment Foster Parent candidates, conducting CourtView checks, evaluating applications, screening applicants, participating in interviews, providing pre-service training information, etc.
  • Connects with referred foster parents by phone, email, and/or text, providing program details.
  • Selects method of advertising, prepares and distribution of recruitment ads.
  • Developing and implementing recruitment strategies to meet the needs of the Therapeutic Foster Care Program.
  • Identify recruitment opportunities through research, networking, and cultivating relationships.
  • Identifies possible referral sources and performs outreach.
  • Meets with community referral sources to provide education and training on DFS services.
  • Completes inquiry questionnaire with foster parent applicants.
  • Accurately records and inputs information and maintains spreadsheets daily for tracking outreach efforts and completed inquiries.
  • Attend all required in-home interviews with applicants and all household members.
  • Conduct a preliminary evaluation of the applicant's ability to meet the requirements of a foster parent, and ensure that all required documentation is collected to conduct all background screening, including references.
  • Responsible for actively raising community awareness of needs of children in foster care.
  • Represent organization at public events such as job fairs and community outreach gatherings.
  • Creating, organizing and leading appreciation events for Therapeutic Foster Parents.
  • Assisting with compiling Therapeutic Foster Care program evaluation data.
  • Ensures adherence to all applicable borough, state and other regulations.
  • Assist with proper documentation and record keeping for all foster care activities.
  • Understand and comply with all agency policies, procedures, plans, program requirements and protocol.
  • Encourage foster family members to be active participants in the application process.
  • Maintain inventory of office, event, and recruitment supplies.

Other Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with maintenance and auditing of foster parent files to ensure compliance with licensing standards.
  • Assist with maintaining Agency Foster Care placement license.
  • Provide reports as required.
  • Attend and participate in meetings, committees and trainings as assigned.
  • Maintains accurate and current foster parent records in EHR data system.
  • Performs other duties as needed.

Position Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in marketing, business or related field; four (4) years of experience in marketing, recruiting or customer service; or a combination of education and experience.

  • Knowledge of recruitment strategies across various platforms
  • Ability to answer questions about Denali Family Services and the Therapeutic Foster Care Program.
  • Ability to carry out recruitment efforts with autonomy, creativity, energy, and enthusiasm through a welcoming and supportive approach.
  • Ability to build relationships within the community and increase foster parent awareness.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to accurately document events, provide detailed records and work with a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to maintain positive professional working relationships and to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Organized, efficient, and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and good written communication.

  • Ability to interview and recommend potential foster parents.
  • Proficient with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and possess the ability to learn other software applications.
  • Knowledge and understanding of all agency protocol, policy, procedure, plans program requirements.
  • Ability to act decisively and with fairness.
  • Ability to read, speak and write in English.

Physical Requirements: Ability to perform sedentary work as well as to be engaged in physical exercise with consumers such as running, walking, hiking, etc.. Must be able to lift 25 lbs and bend down frequently. Visual acuity necessary to utilize a computer monitor throughout the course of a normal workday. Ability to perform repetitive keyboarding activities and operate general office equipment. Ability to communicate verbally, both in person and over the telephone. Ability to wrap arms around and hold a person. Ability to twist and bend. Must have visual and hearing acuity.

Working Conditions: Work is performed in a community mental health center office setting, school, and community and foster homes.
