Job Description
TITLE: MSR(Member Service Representative)

REPORTS TO: Manager/CEO
Purpose
The MSR serves as a liaison between the member and the Credit Union. He/she provides account information and transactions in person, by phone or as directed and according to policy and procedure. The MSR opens accounts for members, cross-sells products, and services, and resolves issues professionally in the best interest of the member AND the Credit Union. He/she maintains thorough knowledge of the Credit Union’s products and services, policies, procedures and rules and regulations. As the first contact person with the member, the MSR stays abreast of safety and security at all levels at the premises and within the account handling. Confidentiality of member information is always maintained both inside, and outside, the Credit Union. He/she promotes the Credit Union with each member contact and advises the Manager/CEO of member opinions and suggestions.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Greet and welcome members to the credit union in a courteous, professional, and timely manner, providing prompt, accurate, confidential, and efficient member transactions.
2. Receive share drafts/checks and cash for deposit to accounts, verify amounts, examine share drafts/checks for proper endorsement, and enter deposits into computer records.
3. Cash share drafts/checks and process withdrawals; pay out money after verification of signatures and member balances.
4. Assist with mail or email transactions when assigned.
5. Answer phones and handle member requests as trained.
6. Maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge on all credit union products and services, as well as related policies, procedures, rules, and regulations for the front office area, including robbery procedures.
7. Promote, explain, and cross-sell other credit union services such as consumer loans, certificates, debit and credit cards, on-line banking, and cashier check
8. Receive loan payments, and ensure the payments match balances due. Enter payments into computer. Generate member receipts. Contact Assistant Manager or CEO if discrepancy.
9. Place hold on accounts as directed.
10. Count, check, and handle coins and currency.
11. Balance cash drawer as directed and compare totaled amounts to computer-generated proof sheets. Research and resolve discrepancies. Report any discrepancies to the Assistant Manager or CEO for assistance in resolution. Report any unresolved outages to Assistant Manager or CEO.
12. Ensure that the teller station is properly stocked with forms, supplies, brochures, etc.
13. Report malfunctions of teller terminals and other equipment used at the teller station.
14. Check night depository envelopes and record proper information according to credit union procedures. Handle start of day and other front office duties as coordinated by the Assistant Manager or CEO.
15. Respond to members’ requests, problems, and complaints and/or direct them to the appropriate person for specific information and assistance.
16. Open new accounts, and service existing accounts. Set up new account files, and provide members with all necessary information for membership.
17. Research accounts as needed.
18. Assist members with the proper completion of payroll deduction and direct deposit
19. Complete down-time projects as assigned.
20. Other duties as assigned by the Manager/CEO
