What You’ll Do ─ Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Work with the Executive Team to develop and manage a team of Directors from diverse backgrounds and disciplines, holding them accountable to supporting their teams to achieve programmatic goals, address performance problems, and develop professionally. Work to ensure a healthy, inclusive, and collaborative environment in which team members can show up as their authentic selves and actively participate in the continued evolution of JMA. Effectively partner with the Management Team to plan for sustainable growth, high-level program visioning, and goal development, as well as identifying resources and strategies needed to implement vision. Work with Executive Director and Development Team in identifying, cultivating and sustaining national funders. Work with Executive Director and Communications Team in establishing JMA’s brand, building its reach and ensuring it has an effective press and social media operation. Coordinate the work of the Development and Communications teams to ensure they complement each other in raising JMA’s profile and resources. Ensure that JMA is an equitable, inclusive place to work, is representative of the diverse communities the organization serves, and retains a high-performing staff. Ensure compliance with all organizational policies and procedures. Support Executive Team with board management. About you ─ Required Qualifications: At least 15 years working in labor, social justice, civic engagement, environmental or gender and racial justice fields in progressively higher level positions. Significant high-level management experience, with a minimum of 5 years experience leading relevant work in a supervisory role preferred. Demonstrated commitment to advancing the interests of people of color, women, and/or formerly incarcerated people at America’s workplaces. Excellent writer; ability to communicate effectively with a wide array of constituencies including funders, press, union leaders and members of the public. Proven ability to develop effective strategies and lead teams in a variety of assignments. A sense of urgency necessary to drive change within an advocacy organization and ability to prioritize strategically. The flexibility, energy, and attention to detail needed to manage a complex workload and rapidly changing contexts. Proven ability to build deep and lasting relationships with a variety of partners. Ability to triage competing interests and identify which need direct attention of the Executive Director, management team, Board members, partners, and staff. A team player with exceptional communication skills who is highly diplomatic and has strong self-awareness and interpersonal skills. Ability to continually assess and thoughtfully develop the leadership of team members. Demonstrated ability to model a culture of feedback. Some travel may be required to meet with funders, speak at events and conferences about JMA’s work, and to meet teams in the field. (Up to 30% of time) Other Physical Requirements:
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards. Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards. Must be able to communicate clearly on telephone with reasonable accommodations. What Else You Should Know ─ Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $130,000-$150,000, depending on location and experience. 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision premiums for the employee and dependents. PTO includes 12 personal days, 12 federal holidays, and 2 floating holidays each year. JMA has a paid, two week winter break at the end of each December. Staff can accrue up to 20 vacation days and 20 sick days. After 5 years of work, all staff are eligible for 3 months of sabbatical leave. JMA contributes 5% of salary towards 401k plans after 6 months of employment. Flexible Spending Account (FSA). Cell phone and mileage reimbursement. Utility/Internet monthly stipend for those working from home. A strong organizational commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion policies and practices. JMA is a unionized workplace. This position is a management level position and is not a member of the bargaining unit. JMA is a qualifying Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) employer.
