Job Description: About the Role: The role of the Director of Technical Operations is accountable for developing and executing against all engineering and technical activities within a multi-plant Business Unit (BU) as assigned, that meet short- and long-range company objectives of the BU with optimum efficiency. These activities are inclusive of but not limited to non-capital and capital enabled initiatives, sustainability, reliability, and regulatory compliance. Is the point person to facilitate/lead the development of the BU and site(s) technical masterplan, including the development and execution of the 3 – 5 year capital plan. This individual will drive technical solutions and provide leadership/direction to project management teams/managers responsible for development and execution of project scope, cost, and schedule (from concept to initial production) of multi-discipline capital programs and projects. Direct and control the deployment of innovation, capital programs and projects at manufacturing and co-manufacturing facilities to improve performance in the areas of product quality, productivity, and capacity. Play a lead role in ensuring the BU and Supply Chain delivers against critical objectives such as achieving their sustainability targets, improving overall reliability, reducing waste, improving on quality and safety KPI’s, unlocking capacity and capability, and staying regulatory compliant. Technical and professional development of the members of the BU technical team, including plant-based resources. Provide thought leadership and support within the BU and Technical Operations organization to establish strategic direction and priorities. Drive consistency and standardization throughout the Supply Chain and Technical Operations organizations. Important Details:
This is a full-time, remote position requiring 50% to 75% travel depending on plant needs. About You: B.S. degree in an Engineering discipline or a similar technical degree (Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical preferred). Advanced degree preferred. 10+ years of experience in a food manufacturing serving in an operation and/or technical capacity. Formal project management training or certifications preferred. Experience leading and managing technical disciplines and budgets in a multi-site manufacturing organization is essential. Must be a highly effective program and capital project manager with experience managing complex initiatives across multiple sites. Operational experience with TPM principles (i.e., pillars, systems, standard work) is highly desired. Strong background in driving performance through improvements in reliability, reduction in losses, etc. via non-capital intensive measures. Adept at working in traditional Engineering and Maintenance support programs such as AutoCAD, MS Project, SAP PM (or equivalent CMMS), etc. Experience in developing individuals and teams professionally and technically.
