The City of Monticello, Illinois is currently accepting applications for an Administrative Assistant for the Administration Department.
Under general supervision, this position provides assistance to the City Administrator and other City Staff in a variety of general office and customer service tasks relating to the daily operations of the City Administrator's office and the front desk at City Hall.
This position provides general information and assistance to staff city-wide and the public and works cooperatively with the Administrative Staff to complete any receptionist, telephone, secretarial, record filing and retention, mailing, maintaining office supplies, and other duties as assigned.
This position also serves as the City’s Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) officer, works cooperatively with the Finance Director with claims checks, prepares and posts meeting agendas as required by State law, assists with all electronic communication as needed, assists the utility Billing Clerk as needed and schedules the use of the Livingston Center and City Council Chambers.
This position may also serve as the City Collector and hold the office of City Clerk if appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the City Council.
The minimum requirements for this position are: a high school diploma or GED and a minimum of 3 years of experience meeting or exceeding the essential functions as provided in the job description. The applicant must have a valid Illinois driver’s license and must be willing to live within a twelve (12) mile radius of City Hall within six months of hire date, and must have good customer service skills dealing with the public.
The ideal applicant will have working knowledge of general computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Microsoft Excel, skilled in reading comprehension, active listening, time management, writing speaking, critical thinking, judgement and decision making, and social perceptiveness.
