Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a
Principal / Senior Principal Project Management
professional to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Test and Evaluation organization. This position will be located in
Palmdale, CA.
As the selected candidate, you will oversee and manage the operational aspects of ongoing projects. This position will require the performance of advanced project management tasks from inception to close-out, and continuous management of the system for operational efficiency.
The selected candidate should have knowledge of Earned Value Management System (EVMS), and Program Management processes and procedures. They should have knowledge of industry practices and standards and demonstrate the skill and ability to perform tasks independently with minimal direction using continuous problem-solving techniques and be able to lead through, overcome and adapt to obstacles and challenges; dealing effectively with change and challenges and helping others to do the same. They should possess leadership and team building capabilities and have experience briefing leadership along with possessing solid organizational abilities and being a motivated, flexible team player.
Additionally, the selected candidate should enjoy the challenges of working in a dynamic environment; have strong analytical, communication and presentation skills; demonstrated ability to work effectively on project and functional teams; and the ability to communicate and summarize detailed data to management. The selected candidate should have highly effective interpersonal skills, commitment to fostering an engaging environment for others, and excellent communication skills.
This requisition may be filled at either a Principal or a Sr. Principal level.
Basic Qualifications for Principal:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
Minimum of 5 years of project management experience; 3 years with a Master's, 1 year with a PhD.
Basic Qualifications for Sr Principal:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
Minimum of 8 years of project management experience; 6 years with a Master's, 4 years with a PhD.
Basic Qualifications for both Principal and Sr Principal:
Hands on experience in project management and control account management
Familiarity with risk development and mitigation plans
Ability to coordinate across multiple disciplines and product teams
Demonstrated leadership success and ability to gain influence with peers and others in a matrixed organization
Skilled in Microsoft Project (scheduling), Microsoft Excel (pivot tables), and Microsoft PowerPoint
Must have an active DoD Secret Clearance or higher (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)
Must have ability to obtain and maintain Program Access (PAR) within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
Preferred Qualifications:
EVMS / Cost and Schedule experience
Experience managing technical projects preferably aerospace related
Experience managing facilities and infrastructure projects

Salary Range:
$88,700 - $133,100
Salary Range 2:
$109,900 - $164,900
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
