Summary
As part of the Portfolio Strategy Department, the Business Case Assessment & Special Projects Director in the Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship is responsible for advancing the commercial potential of its innovative pipeline products, while also identifying portfolio growth opportunities and strategic external partnerships aligned to the overall portfolio strategy. This role will contribute to the value maximization of the portfolio by providing timely commercial and life-cycle input to key pipeline opportunities. The role is also a critical member of partnering teams with the goal of enabling value-driven licensing agreements by providing input on potential partners, asset valuations and deal terms.
This role will have responsibilities in:
New Product Planning
Market Planning and Competitive Intelligence
Consulting Project and Vendor Management
Business Development
Cross-functional collaboration with clinical, regulatory, legal and business development stakeholders to ensure effective communication of the business case and efficient decision-making to support timely completion of the transaction
The ideal candidate will have:
At least 8 years of pharmaceutical/biotech/consulting commercial, strategic, and/or analytical experience
Strong knowledge in the area of oncology, including external trends and developments in the treatment landscape
Previous experience in a commercial assessment role that required comprehensive understanding of the oncology market from multiple customer perspectives (e.g., HCP, regulatory, payers, patients) and different business perspectives (e.g., clinical, R&D, supply-chain, marketing)
Demonstrated experience in establishing strong relationships with internal executive stakeholders
Significant analytic skills with ability to clearly distill scientific, clinical, and commercial information into actionable insights
Ability and experience in conducting market assessments of new opportunities including in-depth understanding of market research principles
Ability to lead, influence, and gain consensus in a cross-functional development team environment
Proven experience in analytics
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to develop and deliver compelling presentations to senior management
Demonstrate a healthy sense of urgency and intellectual agility.
Preferred:
Detailed knowledge of the drug development processes including clinical development and regulatory requirements
Significant analytic skills to enable interpretation of scientific, clinical and commercial information
In-depth understanding of key marketing and market research principles
Familiarity with secondary research and databases
Ability to effectively plan, prioritize, execute and anticipate challenges
Ability to work, influence, and gain consensus across multiple functions (e.g. research, clinical, regulatory, translational medicine)
Strong leadership skills necessary to engage, influence and motivate colleagues at all levels
Collaborative worker with a diverse group of people and expertise
Strategic thinker with strong organizational skills
Effective verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated expertise in data visualization tools
Strong facilitation and negotiation skills
Self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit, enthusiasm and creativity
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in business or Life Sciences, master's degree preferred
